So I was vacuuming the interior carpets for the 1st time of my brand spanking new Tacoma and came across this screw sitting under the drivers seat. Any idea where it's from? Where to reattach it? I didn't have much light so I couldn't pinpoint any places missing a screw. At this point not sure if it came from the drivers seat in the 1st place. Any ideas? And of course I'll sarcastically add: "I suppose this is the Famous Toyota Quality" he he he.....
No but seriously please help. I've got a terrible case of OCD when it comes to cars and this will keep me up at night, no matter how many of you come in here and tell me it's weight reduction therefore good for the truck when "sendin it"

Looks like a screw that holds the kick panel on or it goes behind all the pop off dash trim.

Look underneath dash on driver side. There should be 3 or 4 screws there holding the trim in place. If it is not that, you'll figure it out eventually when it starts rattling. Lol

I would be sitting at the dealer first chance I got and have them find where it came from. They would also show me the empty hole before they reinstalled so they couldn’t just sweep it under the rug. My two Lincolns.

Just drop it in the center console. And, one day, you may find where it needs to go?

I would..... he would be there all God damn day... and I would simply remove a screw, show him the hole and put the one he brought in, in its place.:fistbump:

Based on the size it is definitely not critical. Like others said, likely for trim. It could even be a screw that got dropped while assembling the truck and they just left it there and got another screw.
I have found wire crimpers, an air grinder, and numerous screws and washers in boats shipped from the factory.

I had a Jeep CJ7 back in 1978. It was tan with a big a$$ golden eagle on the hood.

Wife #1 flipped it while driving through Yellowstone Park...But that's another story.

Anyway, soon after I bought it, screws and nuts started dropping from under the dash. This went on for several years.

I collected them in a bag, thinking I would figure out the source(s) someday.

Never did. I think the guys in Detroit (or wherever that piece of crap was built) were just fooling with me.

That screw appears to be from your center console.

I would wager it was loosened at the Port if your distributor adds some sort of technology package that requires them to access the console. Do you have back seat USB ports?

I found the same screw under the carpet in the center console, i look around the center console and theres nothing. The only thing i find interesting is that theres a hole in the center console under the carpet, the hole is big that half of my finger could fit in it and now im curious.

Plenty of folks here have removed it, they could easily answer your curiosity.
