Will torque shudder get worse?

    Vehicle:
    07 Tacoma regular cab
07 Tacoma 4 cylinder regular cab. 128k miles and has very bad torque shudder, sometimes into 3rd gear but usually into 4th. Toyota wants $2300 to fix it lol. It always happens under the same situation so it’s easy to avoid: transmission warmed up, light throttle acceleration easing into 3rd or 4th gear. 40-50mph. So normally I just give it more gas to avoid it or back off throttle for a second to fix it.
My question is will it continue to get worse or will it just keep acting the way it is? So I can continue doing the same thing. I’m not paying to fix it
    now.
    Thanks
