After over 40 hours of using the Westinghouse generator this week I am fully satisfied with the purchase. The 40Lb propane tank still has more to give.

I have a RV 30A cord running into the house then splitting the power to what I need to run. It's a game of not tripping over the cords.

I ordered a 30 amp transfer switch with the needed connectors so next time I will not have to run around with extension cords to get the power working.

like @gotblika said, we used this to convert it to run dual fuel:

For anyone curious and waiting to buy a generator for next year.

The iGEN4500DF Westinghouse Dual Fuel generator is expected to be back in stock in the beginning of January.

Just a note, if you get a transfer switch, make sure you get a 3-prong 120v compatible one and not the 4-prong 240v models since this generator only offers 120v.

Amazon shows them in stock free one day shipping. The price has increased by $80 (EDIT $150).

You can use the 4 prong 30 amp switch but you will need this adapter (not cheap).

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071ZNHG4B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I went with the 4 prong transfer switch in case I upgrade the generator in the future.

I have the transfer switch with the remote plug on hand and am waiting for a Lifetime vertical storage shed which I will convert for generator storage.

Costco had a sale on this shed so I ordered it and put it together tonight. I had also ordered a larger 8 x 15 shed from the same company Lifetime sheds that is supposed to come in some time this week.

This is not it's final place, just there to wait for a new pad to be poured for both sheds.

I still need to add vents and a fan so it doesn't overheat in the enclosed space. I will also build a shelf to hold more accessories and tanks.

Address check shows me in the clear, but I’m buried deep on the map.

I got fuel. If I don’t use it I’ll put it into a car. Super unleaded. I do have several gallons of non ethanol as well.

I feel sorry for you folks in these shut off areas. Here I was doing some burning today as it was the first day in 10 days maybe that had some air movement to allow smoke dispersal. Burned two big piles of small limbs and debris from a couple Cottonwood trees I fell.

So. I use standard gas with Stabil. I only fill it when I need it. I installed a Y valve in front of the gas shutoff so I can drain the tank. I run it dry before storing each and every time. I only use fresh gas. This will be my 20th year without having to rebuild the carb.

LPT1, plug an appliance chord into the outlet behind the refrigerator and run it under the fridge to the front, plug the fridge power chord into the appliance chord and tuck it back under the fridge. This way, you can quickly unplug the fridge and plug it into a generator extension chord when the power goes out, so that you don't need to pull out the fridge to access the power chord each time. Unless, of course, if you have the benefit of using a transfer switch.

LPT2, use a portable battery inverter like this one to power your wireless router during a power outage (but not your coffee maker - don't ask me how I know), so that you may stay connected to the Internet (er, TacomaWorld).

BTW, Jeg's currently has the 2,000 watts Yamaha "clone" inverter generator for $375 shipped (using the promo code SANTA) over here. :spending:
