Power inverter buzzing

Hey everybody I wanted to take a waffle maker with me tomorrow morning and make waffles on site at school, but It draws 550 watts, I tried it and it heated up fine but there was a distinct buzzing coming from the inverter. Im guessing it shouldn't do that. Will this set up be fine or should I just ditch the idea and bring the propane grill for pankcakes.

550w is a bit much, 400w is the max IIRC. However, kudos for using it for something I would have never thought of but sounds amazingly delicious!

 

Ive got a trip to harbor freight this weekend, Im picking up a 1200watt inverter to have even more fun

 

I can't say for sure about this inverter and its limits, but generally it is not uncommon for an inverter to "chirp". It is the inductor inside the switching regulator that is oscillating near human hearing frequencies.
