    Going that route is 50/50
The truck side of that connection may want to receive a ground signal to complete the circuit

I would instead try to spice into the ground and add an auxiliary ground line so your adding more grounding instead of replacing

Finally took the time to get this installed. Haven't set up the camera yet, but eventually...15710818016582587974419822364106.jpgYeah, it's not clean or anything, but it does what it needs to

Redid my harness with an additional ground. Ended up using 10 AWG primary wire routed to this ground on the passenger C-pillar.

Preliminary results are good. Fob is working as intended.

Is there a threaded insert for the Baja Designs lights? I'm looking at mine real quick wondering how I'm going to attach the last two lights after attaching the housing to the truck.

It should go in exactly like the others do, just after it gets mounted to the truck. If you could post up a pic, we can get a better look at it.

The outside lights cover the holes for the bolts that mount the light to the truck. So unless there are threaded inserts for the lights, I'd have to use self-tapping screws. Although any pictures I could find on here looks like they used the cap screws the lights come with.

It’s plastic and you can cut the thread with the supplied Allen bolt. So, pre cut the threads in the plastic on your bench, remove the two outside lights, bolt up the housing to the truck with lights hanging by the wires, put the light back.

I got it all apart at the moment, I can confirm the wire gauge is 22~24, (comes out at 23 by my calculations) it's simply not enough for the ground. If you do run a decent ground wire (tap into original, so you're using both OEM and new) you will increase key-fob range, but still not back to normal. If you run a separate power wire (don't use OEM at all) you will increase range again, I'm still testing but doesn't seem back to normal, but it's close.

One thing to also note is it messes with the touch door handle as well.

Probably going away from my BD5, problem is I cut off the connector that plugs into the original OEM brake light. Anyone have any idea where I can by one or someone here cut theirs off and want to sell it?

I’m not selling mine as I always keep OEM parts so I can go back. It’s an odd connector that I’ve never seen before, tomorrow, I can take some pics and dimensions if you need them. But the pins are fairly standard, you could easily buy the pins, crimp them on the wires, and put it back that way without the actual connector.
I’m sure there are cheaper options, but the female pins from this kit would probably work.

Thanks, I have done that for now, it's fairly solid, but always prefer the right connection.

Same problem that is discussed with the fob not working unless the bed light switch is off, and two of the red BD lights and one of the white are very dim and not working properly. Removed everything and bench tested them and same problem. Worked good for 7 months.

There was talk (pre SEMA) of a MESO wire harness that would be put in production- I don’t know if this has been abandoned or delayed but it might be an answer for those with install issues.

I believe so but then again as time flies this may become a urban legend. Stew is a busy man and has many stoves to work.
