Did you have the recall performed?

Yes. I believe it’s just rain/mist on the sensor

I wonder if something like Rain-X would help. It does wonders shedding rain/mist off of a windshield.

Nope. This is why we don't have self driving cars yet. Weather.

Have you actually Tried using Rain-X on the TSS sensor? I bet that it would work, if the problem is in fact rain/mist on the sensor.

Yes. It really has nothing to do with whats actually on the sensor (unless bugs, ice or mud) and everything to do with what the sensor is firing into with respect to heavy rains or fog or snow. Your sensor.could be dry but it cannot see through fog.

And how do you know this? Is this just your opinion, or do you have something to back this statement up?

If you want to come to your own conclusions, just google "millimeter wave propagation in moist air". There are some good studies out there, one of which is a Dept of Commerce report from the 80s...

    Tada!

    Science...for starters.

Lots of articles on this matter. Attenuation or group delay.

Density of the fog or rain could cause variations in the accuracy of the radar. Hence the warning to not rely on it which really boils down to, in my opinion. First world problems. Look out that big piece of glass in front of you and pay the fuck attention and not relay on electronics...

Basic speed law. Apply it. Don’t drive faster than the conditions permit

    This I agree with 100 %.

I also agree that radar is affected by rain and fog. I'm sure that radar works better in clear weather.

But a blanket statement that it "cannot see through fog" is hard to accept.

There's too many airplanes flying and "seeing" through rain, fog, and clouds for that to be true.

There is a lot else working to that. We are talking about a specific radar designed for vehicles, not aircraft.

Aircraft have the luxury of AIS which pinpoints other aircraft on the display and knows where they are based off responses from the aircraft which feeds GBS data. Speed, position alititude.

All of which we don’t have the luxury of in a passenger vehicle.

Also aircraft and pilots have a lot more at their hands for navigation than you may think.

Radar is radio ranging and detection. Depending on the wavelength of the signal and the predetermined parameters set...results may vary.

Like my post. OP’s is really pointless. Drive responsibly, pay attention, don’t rely on this technology to supplant complacency.

I’m an old man who checks his mirrors, uses turn signals and to this day doesn’t use cruise control and I’m only 42

No radar?. It's amazing that you 2018+ guys are even venturing out of the house.

hold down the CC button and use regular CC. I almost never use the radar as the slowdown/speed up is way too abrupt
