I almost bought a Bak MX4 today from a guy on CL, but when I saw it in person I found it had (undisclosed) hail damage. I wasn’t thrilled with how his cover has held up over the year (he claims) he has had it, so I couldn’t be happier that I found this thread tonight. I’ll be reaching out to Luke or @GotExhaust soon to pick one up. Super excited to get my tools out of the cab and into the bed!

A friend of mine just purchased a new Ram 1500 and wanted a tri-fold. He like my Lo-Max so I directed him to Luke and he got a great deal on his as well. Helped him install yesterday in about an hour. He is pretty happy with it.

Anyone have issues with reinstalling it and having it line back up?

I stopped at a local dealer who carries all the brands (BAKFlip, Undercover, Extang, etc) and had 1/4 scale displays set up. He did not have a Lomax out on display. I asked it they sold it and he said "Yes, I have a display model over on this shelf". I asked why he did not have it out on display and he said they hardly sell any. People who had bought them came back and complained about having difficulty reinstalling them after taking them off. I thought maybe he was trying to upsell, but he said that they charge $50 more for the Lomax over the BakFlip MX4.

Let us know if we can help.

We have a lot of customers with the LOMAX and a bunch of them do remove the cover then re-install and dont have any issues. I can honestly saw the LOMAX gets better customer feedback than any other cover we offer.

How does this compare to the OEM cover as far as waterproofing? This looks like a good option, but I'm not sure how the OEM cover compares. That's the most important part of the cover for me, as I'm coming from an SUV.

@dr4g1116 I don’t have firsthand experience with the OEM cover, but I can say that my Lomax is great. It snowed today in Denver, and no water got into my bed. I did buy an ESI Ultimate Tailgate Seal off of Amazon for my tailgate. That thing is really excellent. I used the extra length of the seal to fill in any potentially leaky spots at the front of the bed.

The Lomax is a rad cover. It’s easy to remove and reinstall, and it’s lightweight.

I bought mine through @GotExhaust and saved a little money compared to the other source that was mentioned in this thread. I’m very happy all-around.

thank you, that video was extremely helpful! I think you've helped me make up my mind to get this unit. question to everyone who has installed one, no need to drill drainage holes? on the backflip mx4 part of the installation is to drill holes into the bed and attach tubes for drainage. no leaking on this unit even without the drainage hole/tube?

Ordered the Lomax from TRUCK ALTERATIONS on Friday at 1pm, today at 1pm it was delivered to the front door. That’s crazy fast considering the weekend.

Probably can’t do the install until Friday though, darn...

    Thanks Luke !!

Lomax is on, took about 1.25 hours from start to finish, moving vehicles, unboxing and cleanup.

After originally considering a tried and true soft tri fold because of the weight and price, I think I’m going with this. Thank you everyone who posted reviews or photos/videos!

Thanks Luke, got it in 2 days, like the poster above me around an hour start to finish. Just in time to keep my bed dry from a snow!

Received my cover a couple weeks ago but just got time to install it today. Installed it with my dad over a 6 pack of beers. Took an hour but could’ve been trimmed down to 35-40 had our tools been organized and had we not had a 6 pack. Love the finished product! We will see if my weatherstripping job keeps the water out!

Just installed the Lomax tonneau today, love the look of this thing. With the weather stripping on the side rails and on the lids, I'm pretty confident this will keep out 90%+ of water.

No problem. Install was straight forward, and being aluminum it's durable and still lightweight.
