If you permanently disable TSS and all assorted features via Techstream, does the car throw a dash warning if the front radar is unplugged or angry about being wet?

Wait you can disable the features? Maybe I will buy another taco in a year or two.

You’ll still have a warning light in the instrument panel. PCs off light or something.

my dealer already changed the setting to not automatically come on and use last setting used. But I haven’t turned it off- I just wanted the option to if I wanted

It’s a combination diagnostic and coding software. Unfortunately, it seems that Toyota software lags pretty aggressively behind the industry. On my 15 year old BMWs for example, one can easily change the build order in the computer to remove options like TSS and have the car no longer care about it.

To me, I would LOVE it if I could change the DEFAULT on the cruise control stalk, so that the default by quick push of the button, would be the classic cruise control, instead of the DRCC. Right now, the default is DRCC which means that a quick push of the button turns on the Dynamic radar Cruise control and is then ready to be "set". To go into classic cruise control, one has to push and HOLD the button for a couple of seconds. Now this doesn't sound like much, but there have been several times when I pushed the button for what I thought was long enough, only to discover that it turned on DRCC instead of Classic Cruise Control. So I then had to turn off DRCC, then push and hold the button again, all the while looking at the display in the middle of the dash until the Classic cruise control was on, and then I was able to set it. Of course, while I was looking at this display,my eyes were off the road, thereby creating an unsafe environment much like these young whippersnappers who are continuously looking at their phones while driving. It should be a simple thing to be able to change the default, but for now, there is no such option from Toyota.

It's the classic features for the sake of features.

Really can't figure out why people don't like these features. I was skeptical but I love them.

when you lift the truck and put a bumper on, see how much you like it then when it doesn't work and just pops an alarm up the entire time you drive

Most people don't do 6" lifts and still complain about it.

I'll tell ya why I don't like DRCC. That dang thing is always putting the brakes on, even when they are not needed! The DRCC is going to wear my brakes out prematurely, if I was to use it! Example; I mostly drive around town where the speed limit is 25 almost everywhere. The cops here are insane, so I was glad when I finally bought something that had cruise control on it! BUT, when I first got it, I would set the DRCC on and drive around town. The dang thing would "see" a car sitting at a stop sign a block away, as I was approaching, and would HIT the brakes more than half a block away! At first I didn't know what was going on until I read the instructions about DRCC. So I said "heck with this crap", and just use classic cruise control, which to me, is perfectly good.

Some still pay more for flip phones, and open them with one hand and a tooth.

Never found a use for cruise control of any sort. Radar based adds nothing to that but complication.

I have both been in the car for and had friends with multiple Pre-Collision System failures. Two nearly resulted in getting rear ended, and the third one that happened to a friend did who now has permanent back injuries. It's a crutch for the assholes who tailgate wherever they go, that isn't me.
