Just got my 2003 Tacoma yesterday. Low mileage and excellent condition.
The instrument lighting is not working. I checked fuse and there are no volts. I plan to troubleshoot but thought someone here could give me a head start.
I am in process of buying literature with diagrams but I need to address asap.
First step is to check the rheostat on dash and then go from there. Without schematic it may be difficult.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

So just the lights on your dash are out? Are the lights on the climate controls working?

If your climate control lights are working, perhaps you just need to replace your bulbs.

Every light on the dash (including climate controls) is out. All gauges still work- only with no illumination. I have ordered a manual which supposedly has all applicable schematics.
Until it arrives I will get my multimeter and do some basic troubleshooting.
    Will keep all posted.
At night, I just put my phone in the cupholder with my GPS speedometer on display. Crude - but effective.
My 32 years as an instrument and controls tech at major power generation stations (and now retired) probably gives me a little advantage but I would still like the schematics.
I'm leaning towards the rheostat on dash. Fuse was good. There may or may not be volts present but it was late at night outside when I was checking it.

    I still love this truck.

Thanks to all for the interest and advice.
