I plan on mounting steel rims from my 2008 Tacoma, onto my 2019 off road, for the winter, so that I can save the good rims.
Besides the fact that I am too cheap to buy $240 worth of sensors to put on rims that I am only going to use 3-4 months, is there are problems that might occur, except for the annoying “idiot light” for the tire pressure monitoring on the dash?
    Thanks
    Barry

    Nope.

I have that exact setup. If you park your truck close enough to where you store your tires the sensor light will stay up for approximately 13 miles of travel to boot.

My TPS light only comes on after 30min of driving, so driving around town or daily commute has no difference.

No issues, and truthfully, if you go the TPMS route (like i did with my wife's prius) you have to program the TPMS sensor ID in each time you swap your winter/summer tires around b/c for some dumb reason Toyota can only remember 4 IDs instead of 8. It's stupid, last winter i was too lazy to swap codes so I actually just left them summer tires. She works pretty close to home and like others have said it takes 20-30 miles for the light to come on so by the time she gets home it detects the tires in the basement and the light virtually never comes on.
