    Hey All,

I'm looking for some opinions as to what my next step should be. I purchased my tacoma in 2016, new from my local Toyota dealership. Since then, on several occasions, I've noticed them short cutting service. They didn't tighten the bolts down correctly on the bed of the truck resulting in some solid squeaking, they completely half assessed some rust repair and I had to bring it back for correction, they installed tires incorrectly by putting the valve stem in the wrong location and correcting it with a massive amount of tire weights, etc.

I just brought the truck in for routine 40k maintenance which consists of an oil and filter chance, tire rotation, and the usual bits. A couple services ago I had them install new tires on my TRD 4 Runner pro wheels. I noticed that a tire in the back was, on average, 4 PSI higher than the rest. I told myself, whatever I'll take care of it later. However, I never got around to it. On the drive home after picking the truck up, I noticed the tire in the same location (back left) was 4 PSI higher than the rest. I'm thinking the dealership didn't actually rotate the tires. My logic is that if the tire pressure was high or if the sensor is faulty, those issues would be tied to that exact tire. If they rotated the tire to the front like they should have, I would be seeing the outlier up front.

At this point I'm considering contact Toyota corporate. The above issues I mentioned were just the tip of the iceberg. Am I correct in that there is no other explanation for the outlier to be in same location? Is there anything I can inspect visually to see if they completed the rotation?

    Thanks everyone.

I mark my valves with different colors underneath the valve cap. First thing I do is look to see if they rotated my tires. If they didn't do that, I find a different dealership.

Not sure about your overall conclusion, but is there another dealer close by you could use instead? With the earlier issues with them, I'm curious why you kept going back. If you can I'd recommend not continuing to give them your business. Did you also bring these past issues to their attention?

Concur. Stop going back - the dealer has established a negative track record.

Ive had it out with the dealer a few times over not rotating tires, or doing things half assed.

THISS. very simple, find another dealer. i live in a hooyty tooyty area in "the hamptons" and the dealership by me can go fuck themselves in every aspect (sales and maintence). i travel 45 min passing multiple other dealers to get my truck worked on by the dealership i choose. they put plastic down on the floor, always greet me with a friendly smile and they sit me down and break down what was done to the truck that day. it goes a long way. keep going to different dealers unitl you find the one u like.

its sadly a sign of the times when owners have to resort to marking valves stems, oil filters, air filters, etc. before we bring our trucks in for dealership service.

Dealerships are filled with lying scum, find an independent shop to do the work or do it yourself.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm going to contact corporate and start looking for a new dealer.

I reviewed some photos I took of my truck recently and noted the valve stem location in conjunction to the lettering on the tires. I then compared the location to the way they sit now. Unfortunately, nothing matches the photos. Apparently tires must slip around the rim ever so much.

Still trying to find a smoking gun...

They put the valve stem on the heavy side of the tire and not the lightest.

I went to my dealership last week for service (oil change and tire rotation) of course the tires weren’t rotated I had a chat with the service manager they refunded my money, rotated the tires and gave my a gift certificate for my next oil change. I wanted to chat with the flat dummy who said he rotated the tires but of course they wouldn’t make him available to me.

Did you mark your tires? How were you able to tell?

This kind of stuff drives me nuts. I have zero tolerance for businesses being cheap and lazy with stuff I am already overpaying for.

If the tire is this far out is weight, you have a bad tire. Tire shops don't normally match tire and rim weights when balancing. If they have a tire too far out of balance, a good shop will warranty the tire.

I barely trust myself to work on my truck, let alone some teenager at the dealer.

Ive had some fair share of bad dealerships on my cars before. I mean, the only time id go there now for my tacoma is an oil change since its free for the next 2 years. I know other much reputable shops out there that has workers thats been working on vehicles for a long time and that makes me feel a lot better knowing somebody knows what their doing. But thats just me.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
There is no way the bead of the tires slips on the rim under normal driving.
