I suppose this is the place to vent. Just moved to texas, new job, was hoping to get in on this season and fill the freezer. I don't qualify for a resident license though (need 6 months verifiable residency) and no luck on affordable leases, so it's either pay $1000-2000 for a marginal opportunity at some deer near me or figure out an opportunity without any vacation time on public in the national forests/ wilderness areas and pray the late season pays off on a weekend trip. /rant

Anyway, I'm already looking forward to next season. The nice thing about being a damned yankee in TX is all the locals thinking 20 degrees is too cold to be outside.:crapstorm:

Texas is different type of cold. Check your local craigslist for hog hunting may open doors for deer hunting

The 40mph winds were interesting for sure. Got a coworker who hunts hogs, hoping to start doing some hunting networking and see if anybody nearby wants some nuisance does removed.

If you are lucky enough to get drawn for Hagerman Wildlife Refuge area, there are some monsters that come out of there.

A friend of mine shot this not far from our house Saturday afternoon after being in the stand for 45 minutes. The next day a mutual friend sends him a message and says “I don’t know where you’re hunting but it must be close, I’ve let that deer walk twice this year” and he sent him some trail cam photos of it. I told my buddy who killed it “if he let him walk, tell him to send you pictures of the one he’s after”. I’d shoot this one no question.

so this friend of mine, his daughter and son in law hit a "nice" buck in their minivan, they are ok. next question I ask is if they saved the skull? aparently it was off the side of the road in some grass where it cant be seen...Ive been hounding him for couple days to see if its still there but today he gives me flack for asking about it. LOL Im like you claim to be a sportsman and you going to let a "nice" buck rack go to waste? lol...

If I hit a nice buck with my truck I would have done the skull, I tried salvaging the doe I hit last year

    Nice deer!

What’s the low fence for, just around the feeder to keep pigs out? We don’t have a pig problem here......yet. They’re closing in on us though from all sides.
