    well I finished processing my deer over a couple days! Damn a lot of work compared to my yearling last year. Got 85lbs of pure meat! 55 last year total weight including shanks, organs, and bone in roast so probably 45 lbs of meat last year. Here is a picture of the back ham. Gunna be eating good for the next year.

    Hah!

    Hey do you do any maceration for your skulls or do you just do simmer? Did simmer last year and hated it but I got it done in a day. Trying maceration with this guy so I can be more gentle on it with the turbinates and other warping of bones

    @Bigdaddy4760

    You guys allowed to bait deer in Texas? Everything has to be removed 10 or 14 days before season here.

    I just simmer, in cold temps under40° outside it takes longer. I also use washing soda the last 30min of cleaning. 45min total max.

    My wife is not a happy hunter right now. She been hunting hard since November 2nd and hasn’t seen a shooter. Went this afternoon and this little one walked right by the blind 30 minutes after she got there. Then this large shooter buck came in. She text me and said her gun won’t cock. We text back and forth. It’ll only cock when it’s broke down. Ugh. I’ll check it out when she gets home. We’ve never had a problem with it. She can’t hunt tomorrow and rifle comes in Saturday......thank goodness.

    She did say a doe came in and the buck walked off. Kinda weird with the rut going.

    Just went and pulled card, I hate it for her. That’s why it’s called hunting and not killing though. He was standing there at least 6 minutes.
