Well cool, glad to hear it. Ive gotta fix a low compression issue, exhaust, new battery, and the guy said there is an issue with the rear locker in that you cant go faster than 5mph in 4low, and there is a moisture issue.

Maybe he just meant you can't engage the locker unless going under 5mph in 4lo, because that is how Toyota designed it. Once it locks, you can go as fast as 4lo will allow you to. I can't imagine the locker is going to somehow prevent the truck from going over 5mph.

If you look up the "grey wire mod" on the 1st gen forum here on this site, there are some write ups on how to easily re-wire the locker so that you can engage it anytime (in 2wd or 4hi) if you want. As it stands, Toyota designed it to only engage in 4lo under 5mph

That makes even less sense to me haha...how on earth would it kick out of 4lo while moving, you have to be at a stop to go from 4lo to 4hi. Doing it while moving will make all kinds of awful noises and be really bad for the t-case...I don't see how the locker could relate to that at all

    Color me curious

I think that's a first. Never heard of that before.

Since 4Lo engagement is mechanical, I don't see how that's possible.

Definitely interested to see where you go with the fix for this one...

It will be a bit different upgrading to a 6cyl 3.4L after driving a 4cyl 2.7L for so long. Does anyone have experience with the power difference between the two?

oh yes, if its like my 95 single cab truck was, there is quite a noticeable difference

It will feel substantial especially if your 4cyl was an auto. The manual transmissions on both engines really help pull the power out of them

If you really want to pull out some power, slap a supercharger on that 3.4l ;)

My 4cyl was a manual as well. I really never want to go back to driving an auto again after driving a 5spd lol
Even with that 2.7l I could drop the clutch and roast em on dirt roads pretty good which surprised me haha it took me a while to learn how to do it but I also learned to not burn through tires too

Congrats on the purchase, but if that lifted 2002 in your picture tailgates any closer they might be able to change your radio station for you!

the only time i recall roasting my rear tire was crawling a curb in 2wd after going through the autowash to get all the water out of the back of the bed on the incline

are you parting out your 95.5 or anything like that?
