Mine was coming from the switch panel...I took it to the dealership and it was covered under the warranty

Mine was coming from the latch area. I’ve taken it to the dealer 5 times and they have finally said they won’t fix it. “It’s a known issue and there’s nothing we can do” was their response. They said they tested other Tacoma’s and they “all have the same rattle”.

I don’t know what to do. I’m very disappointed in Toyota.

Thanks for the reply. My rattle is definitely coming from the latch. I’ve have the door off several times and can not get to the latch because the door frame is in the way.
Is there anyway you can test with those YouTube audio frequencies to see if this truly does happen on “every Tacoma” like Toyota claims? im pretty desperate for some help.

You need to pony up the extra $10K for a New Ranger. That eliminates the rattles. When you buy a Tacoma, you’re buying the cheapest truck on the market, so you get some rattles.

I have found that turning up the volume helps drown out the noises and rattles.

Or, dynamat. That seems to help too.

I absolutely hate interior rattles especially on a newer vehicle. I had several rattles when driving my new Taco home from the dealer. I got my wife to drive down a country road and I sat in the back seat to hunt the rattle culprits. My rattles ended up being the seat belt buckles rattling agains the side walls inside the cab. About half way down the seat belt there is a "guide" for lack of better terms that the belt runs through. The buckle will slide down (when not in use) and fit perfectly in the guide that the belt strap runs through. When I did that to all the seat belts when not in use, rattle problem solved! They fit so perfectly that may be the intended use of that guide and I was just too dumb to realize. Hope this helps some of your guy's rattles. If you are unsure what I'm talking about, PM and I will send a pic of my buckles stored in that guide.

I thought there was something in the rules about nerds who drive 4Runners, but maybe no.

    I’ll share a story:

Where I live there is a community on the outskirts that is popular with young familys, but the commute it absolutely terrible. Whenever you meet someone who happens to live there, and you ask “where do you live?”, they will tell you and then say “the commute isn’t bad at all”, even though you did not ask about the commute. That’s how you know it’s on their mind, and totally sucks.

This same rule applies to 4Runner nerds. They always tell you how great their 4Runner is when nobody is asking. That’s how I know they are not all they are cracked up to be.

peace brother. Hope to see you back in a Tacoma and hanging with the cool kids someday.

Aw, that’s cute. I like how you correlate your story to my comment then follow with “pickup truck” like I don’t already know. Kinda like how you just spun the story towards 4R owners but did the literal same thing by stating “pickup truck”
