Oh I agree, I plan to do every 5k, it is a very small investment for a potentially large savings (rebuild). I pay more per month for insurance that I never use, same principle here however at least here you get something for that money.

Break in period complete joke, 4 Toyota’s never broken in, each went more than 350k not a single engine issue. 5 Toyota has 90k no break in period, bought and been driving ever since.

For the brakes and tires yes, for the engine:

    Do not tow a trailer.

    • Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
    • Avoid sudden acceleration.
    • Do not drive continuously in low gears.

I love oil threads. A mixture of overtly anemic anecdotes from a vast array of ideologies mixed with some personal renditions from duplicitous Feldspar collectors.

I see this is still going. o_O

Let me see if I can sum it up without looking back. ;)

    1. Amsoil lovers have said their oil can beat up everyone elses oil.
    2. Toyota engineers know what they're talking about.
    3. Toyota engineers have no idea what they're talking about.
    4. I will follow the recommended OCIs set in the manual.
    5. I will change my oil every 3k because that's what my father did and his father before him.
    6. Everyone knows a cousin's sister's friend who's Mustang blew up because of a Fram filter.
    7. Too few people realize that SuperTech and Amazon Basics synthetics are actually excellent products made by Warren Distribution.
    8. Always trust what your local mechanic says about oil changes.
    9. Never trust what your local mechanic says about oil changes.
    10. Mobil1 just finished up a bangin' deal with a $17 rebate on a 5 qt jug and filter.
    11. 0/20 oil is a conspiracy to wear out your engine soon so you'll buy another.
    12. 0/20 oil is too thin. I will use Rotella 15/40 full synthetic.
    13. The cartridge filter is an environmentally friendly way to go.
    14. Who the FUCK designed this cartridge filter?
    15. Is the oil supposed to be red when you drain it?
    16. Why is my engine 5 quarts over after I changed it?!
    17. Why is my transmission shifting funny?
    18. It's a lease. Fuck it, I'm never changing it.

    How'd I do? :D

The flip side would you buy a truck that's had the oil changed more often vs. not? Would you buy a vehicle that's had a bunch of mods?

I pretty much refuse to buy either. I've learned on TW that people are too cheap to buy real deal parts and change oil more often. I mean despite the looks of a truck that sees frequent off road use, most people are changing their oil like they drive it to Applebee's and Kohl's. So is it posers or just being cheap as fuck?

I wonder how many people know that Rotella is basically rebaged Pennzoil Platinum? That should send a few of you off in a new direction. :D
