I have a Bad vibration in my 13 Tacoma from 50mph and up. worse between 50 and 60 mph. Vibration is in the seat not in the steering so I am thinking it is something in the back of the vehicle. I had thought it was the tires so I replaced those, didnt change anything. drove it with the rear drive shaft off of it and it is still there. The vehicle does have a normal leveling kit on it but I dont think that would be it. I work at a Toyota dealer and am at the end of my rope with this.

Pinon Angle, Carrier Bearing Angle, drive shaft. Need to check all the angles. Could need carrier bearing drop, shims, etc.

Also have them check your rear brakes. They might need replacing or turned some. Make sure there isn’t tension on the e brake cable either from the lift.

I took the rear drive shaft off and drove it in 4wd and the vibration is still there..
also just had brake drums replaced and parking brake checked to make sure that all was good and it didn't change anything..
    Good thinking though. Thank you

Assume your tires are balanced and in good shape?

Yes. We had initially thought it was the tires and I replaced them with new. balanced and balanced them. Even had our balancer at the shop checked because we had thought that it could be off.

Did it vibrate before the front and rear lift? Is the rear lift a block?

It was years ago that I leveled the truck.. no it didnt do it then. this is a fairly new issue.. its just a 1inch block in the rear.. i have had the leveling kit on for years and it was fine.. Working at the dealer I see this trucks all the time totally beat and drive them with the same kits on and then are fine..

Did you take the complete rear shafts out with the carrier bearing?
If only the rear portion and left the carrier in then you never eliminated that mess and/or mass of vibration - pretty common one.
If it was totally out and the tires were road force balanced to rule out a bad tire, then check front wheel bearings, shocks, CVs (drivers is sloppy so look up ECGS and their bearing fix), alignment way off (4 wheel align), trans/xfer mount, steering rack, ball joints, rubber bushings, rear spring separating/failing if stock, and that's all I can come up with now to look at. You would hear the rear bearings and rear diff if they were failing. To rule out all things rear end jack stands under rear and run it up and see if anything shakes/hops back there to rule it out so you can more up front. Good hunting and it may take awhile to nail the source down.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
I understand what you have done with the tires but I still think that is the issue.
Did you put four new ones or just rear. If rear only, swap the fronts in.
Possible shocks but i still think tires.

    Alignment?

Was the truck ever wrecked? Frame bent? Etc?

    Bed loose?

Is the driver seat bolted snugly?

The tires are all new and it didn't change anything.. took all the tires/wheels off and had them road force balance to make sure that there was not a defect in a tire and there wasn't. Then took the wheels/tires off of another Tacoma on the lot and swapped them. didnt change anything.

I am in the same boat except that my truck (2014 TRD Sport double cab 2WD) is bone stock. I have new tires that have balanced a few times so I am confident they are not the issue. The only work that has been done was the dealership tried to fix the shudder under acceleration so it is possible they didn't assemble everything correctly.

I have been reading this thread and plan on going through it this weekend to see if I can find anything.
