I have a 99 Tacoma 3.4 ext 4x4 manual. I had an issue with the key only turning to the ac, then after playing with it for a few minutes it turned to on and start. Now it wont always start when I have it the correct position and I have to try it a few times before it catches. I've read a few threads but havent found this exact problem. I'm more than likely going to change the Ignition but wanted to verify with everyone here. Thanks

Is there a difference in the switch for a tilt and a non tilt truck. The piece isnt attached to the colon so I'm not sure why that would be.

Well, that's good...ignition switches should really not be attached to the "colon" .
    Sorry...couldn't resist.
So you're wiggling the steering back and forth? Does the truck have a clutch switch where it only starts when fully depressed?

Changed out the ignition cylinder and works perfectly again. My airbag light would faintly stay on after my truck was off and now it is totally off. I guess that was a tell tale sign that the ignition was going bad.

Interesting. A few folks have reported about a glow or slightly on airbag light here in the forum. Those that fixed it typically did it through replacing the clock spring in the steering wheel.
But for the record, you weren't able to turn the key to the start position, correct?

No, it wouldn't go pass acc today. I had the glow for over a month before it finally gave out
