I put RTV in the holes and under the mounting tabs. It didn't leak when I washed it so :fingerscrossed:

That's exactly what I'm going to do before I mount mine Chris. That is, the vinyl. I feel like the plastidip would be ok but still has the potential more so than vinyl to rub off.

Excellent! Hey let me ax you this. Did you consider using, or is it possible to use that same type of bulb seal (or something like it) along the the bottom edge of the side pieces to close that gap?

has the question been asked yet, can you use the prinsu or alike style cross bars on these. like like the prinsu cross bars are easier to mount to versus these having only certain point to mount too

You probably could. But you might as well just get the prinsu at that point as those aluminum extrusions are pretty expensive (like ~$50 a bar). I have some spare extrusion, but they are too short.

Now that I measured between the holes (30mm apart from center) you could get 3060 extrusions which are ~$30 a bar. Much more reasonable. You would just have to cut to length and tap the holes in the extrusion and bolt them in. So yeah, it is quite possible, probably pretty easy, and still much cheaper than a prinsu.

Just took some more measurements and 3060 aluminum extrusion would fit perfectly. Even the top of the extrusion would fit snug under the lip of the side plate of the rack.

Crazy. Hooke Road could make a "deluxe" version with those bars instead of the steel ones with out changing really anything with their current design.

I am definitely ordering one of these. I mean, for me, It's a no brainer. Maybe I will just run the seal back to that first bar to close the gap some here:

Exactly how I feel. I too read the whole thread. In the beginning I was skeptical. Then a little more on the fence. Once they started with better QC and removed the side numbers, and I saw guys mounting RTTs to them and standing on them I figured it was definitely better that the OEM rack I had on the totaled Taco and more economical than the alternatives. Now all the numbers are gone and the hardware is black so even better (although the silver hardware wasn't a deal breaker for me)

Can someone tell me the box dimensions and weight when they receive their rack? Amazon doesn't ship this item to Oahu. I'm going to get a family member to bring it on their flight next month if it meets baggage requirements.

Made a post but didn't get any responses. I got my roof rack last night, and tried putting it together but I think I got some incorrect components. I got 2 of the bars with 1 dot. I'm guessing I should have a bar with 2 dots. Right??IMG_20191118_201725.jpg

Yeah, it should be 2 dots. IIRC each bar is a slightly different length because the rack has a slight taper to it. See if you can get ahold of them and send you the right one. Though you might get away with a spacer of some kind. Measure them to see if it's even going to be a problem first though.

I’d maybe put them side by side and measure for comparison. I had no idea they were different lengths
