Most likely your favorite Auto Parts vendor .

Depending where you live having new hardware is always good

Have you looked on the internet? It seems like you can find anything there.

I put a Curt on my 1st Gen. Priced right, installed easily (took me about 1/2 hour), looked good and worked very well.

I would look at the local Craig's List for a used trailer hitch, but make sure the hitch is compatible with your truck and that it has the mounting hardware. I bought a used Draw-Tite hitch (part #75078 ) from Craig's List from a farmer in Hollister, CA. for $100 about 2 years ago and had one of the TW members (Thanks Mmlanes04!) helped me install it on my truck. It didn't have the hardware so I bought the missing hardware kit from E-Trailer online. Unfortunately, the hardware kit that I bought from E-trailer was missing its hardware, had the kit sitting in storage for 2 years, and didn't receive credit for the missing hardware. I ended up having to go the hardware store with my friend to buy the extra hardware needed since he knew what parts to look for. It's the first trailer hitch that I've ever bought since the Tacoma is the 1st pickup truck that I've ever owned. I haven't hitched anything to tow it with yet, but am using it with a Heninger TruckStep which I found to be really useful for loading/unloading gear/etc.

OP where are you located? I have the hitch from my truck (will be up for sale on craigslist and this forum soon) off as I installed a relentless rear bumper. I believe its a u haul unit- I'm going to google the make and rating but its beefy.
