Hey guys, first post here. I was driving about 4 hours today and when I came to a stop for construction, I heard a clicking noise. Sounded like a relay clicking, it was not constant and stopped shortly after I noticed it. The click was coming from behind the stereo/glove box area I think. My truck has a stock stereo and aside from a lift is relatively stock otherwise but with 218,000 miles. I was paying attention for something to be turning on and off with the clicking, but noticed nothing. I gave it a Google, but came up empty handed. Any help is appreciated! What's behind the glovebox-- fan, fan speed resistor, HVAC mech. linkages, not much for electromechnical switching. Flashers and relays are on driver side. A mouse? To check, disconnect battery and see if it stops. Or try setting a rat trap

Honestly, I haven't taken the glove box apart or peeked back there. It was a long day for us so I parked the truck and went to lay down. Also, the noise only happened for a short time ( maybe 1 minute) and then stopped and hasn't showed itself again. Thank you

Yeah I can't think of anything important back there and had the dash apart a few times. Could be wrong though, it has been a while.

Key for diagnosis are characteristics such as was it periodic or randomly timed, loud or quiet, pitch frequency etc.

It was definitely randomly timed.. as far as loud/quiet, I didn't notice the noise at speed, but when I was coming to a stop I heard it and then when I was stopped also. It sounded similar the the flasher relay 'click' but that sounds much like most other relays. I'm going to dog around tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the responses

my money is on the actuator for the blend door for the heater/AC... rotate the temp knob all the way to heat and see if it stops, then to cool and see if it stops.

I'll definitely give that a shot next time it happens. Is the actuator for the blend door easy to access? Can I take it apart to visually see a failure? Thanks

This happened to me except instead of a 'click' it was more like a click buzzzzz click buzzzz sound. Looked it up on here and it seems like it's the blower motor or the control unit for it. I was told to try turning the temp dial from cold to hot and back several dozen times, I guess that somehow helps it. Went away for awhile after I did that.
