Not sure why no one else has said this yet, but don't settle or you will regret it every time you get in the truck. Get what you expected or walk.

Don't let a dealer push you into something you don't want. They just want your money, they couldn't give any less of a shit about you. I went out of state for mine after a bunch of BS with local dealerships. At the end of the day, you are the one paying the money.

I have to say, the 2020 headlights are amazing. Crisp and bright. You won't regret it.

I went into the dealership to get this settled and the GM walked up to me asked if my truck was here already lol. He was made aware the issue and pissed his team didnt tell him. The allocation guy thought the LED DRL were the same as LED headlights and had to school him. Told them I would pass on the advanced tech (poss. 6 month wait) but wanted them LED headlights! Truck is suppose to come in this week and waiting to hear if the LED headlights can be installed at Commerce, GA or dealership. Or is that a factory only? #7 weeks so far

Makes zero difference to the dealer if you don't get exactly what you want because they will sell that truck anyhow. Sucks for you. Up to you now if you want to get all pissy with them, take delivery, or wait until you get the build you want. Dealership won't give a shit. "Oh, here's your 500$ deposit back then"

I would do the same and agree with you. Just pointing out the reality of the situation. I would put my order in at a different dealer though, other than the one who couldn't get it right. Also, make certain your desired build is actually capable of being built by Toyota. Salesman's have also been known to put in orders of impossible configurations. That could be a reason for denial or a wrong build. Make sure all your configurations "jive" if you know what I mean. I don't really know purchase/config options for the 2020's.

I didnt think you could "build" a tacoma. I know you can with ford but i thought you could only get what they had already made. Am i thinking incorrectly? Could be why you cant get what you want.

Pulled this from the Toyota web site:

    SET YOUR LOCATION
Enter your Zip Code to find inventory that matches your build.

Dealers would careless about your situation. Truth is they will absolutely sell your truck to another buyer. Like another poster says to never settle for less than they are offered. Know your build code well so you can learn from this for next time. Some of us are lucky to get the right builds and packages/options sooner. Be smart about it and shop for your truck going forward by having an inventory manager at another dealer put in the correct build that you wanted. Your LED lights installation will not be happening b/c those service guys at the dealer have not installed the latest light kits even if they order them separately so they might make it look worse cosmetically.

Hmm, to each their own but I wouldn't pass on the advtech package just to get the headlights. Just go out of state and get what you really want, if it comes to that. I have the advtech package and the panoramic camera is awesome. And here's the thing, you can easily add the OEM LED headlights after you buy the truck, however, you cannot add the advtech package features after the fact (cameras in front, both mirrors, missing wiring harnesses, ECU, etc). Obviously it's up to you, but the last thing I would consider a deal breaker are the headlights since you can easily add those yourself although you will need a conversion harness or to wire them up directly yourself.

And how is the dealership going to install the headlights? They aren't plug-and-play. I'd be shocked if a dealer was willing to re-wire your headlights like that. Are they going to construct conversion harnesses for your truck? That just sounds odd to me that a dealer would be willing to do that.

Good questions! Probably the reason they haven't called me today. So sounds like a warranty issue if not approved to do at the Toyota Commerce, GA. location. Couldn't get a straight answer from them yet.

I mean, to be fair, they certainly have all the parts they would need to make a proper harness. It’s not hard to do at all. If they are willing to do that and mount the lights for you (and warranty it) then great. Dealerships do build custom Tacoma/4runner builds all the time so who knows. I’d still be surprised they would be willing to mess with the headlights. I can see a Sales guy saying “no problem”....and then someone from Service pushing back on the idea. Lol

This was the GM asking me if I would still take the truck if he could get the LED headlights without adv tech. It had almost all the options...Almost! They are either doing that or trying to allocate a diff vehicle.

Just FYI... 5000k HID headlamp bulbs in halogen projector housings are stupid bright and razor sharp. In my opiniin, far better than LED.
Very easy upgrade for very little money.

    Ah, that’s cool.

My 2020 sport didn’t come with the LED upgrade either (premium w/advtech) but I decided to go with it and add the lights. I’ve already bought the lights and the OEM LED fogs. Mounted the fogs easily and I’ll mount the headlights once a harness is available. Then I’ll have all the OEM options I originally wanted. Premium/advtech/LED light package

I hope it works out for you whichever way you go!

Holly smoke! This packages and accessories price is insane. Thought mine at 5.5k was overpriced when they made me have to go with premium package to get LED. lol :crapstorm:

The dealer can sell the truck you ordered, or trade it with another dealer quite easily. The point of custom ordering a vehicle is that you get exactly what you want, so I would tell them you are not satisfied -- point out to them the reason(s) why -- and tell them you want another truck. Be calm and professional about it.

Again, they can sell the truck you ordered so don't feel like you are pressured to keep it. They screwed up here, not you.

Uh, half the posts on the 1st page said exactly this? lol

Honestly, I had to go to about 15 dealers to get the truck I wanted and even then I had to go out of state (Reno, from Sacramento) to get the truck I wanted. If you're having a lot of trouble getting the exact spec you want, I suggest finding the largest Toyota dealer within a couple hours drive and checking with them.

It was easy for me because I just said, "well, where are people most likely to drive exclusively trucks that's nearby? Prolly Nevada where gas is cheaper."
