    someone stole the tailgate of my 2013 tacoma and im looking for a replacement any suggestions on where can i find a good one?

    You can probably buy yours back on offerup.

    Seriously though, wrecking yards want $500 or more for a tailgate with damage.

    If your truck is white, you might be able to get a pristine new take off from a wrecking yard for about $650.

    If you buy all the pieces new from Toyota and have it painted at a body shop, you're going to be over $1,000.

    One of my buddies actually did buy his back on FB marketplace. Had a distinct scratch in the tailgate and we found it. Was actually cheaper to buy it back than to pay his deductible as backwards as that is.

    After locating it, hope the police report was updated to reflect the contact details for the criminals and all applicable documentation including video and voice recordings and so forth....
    And note that even if the tailgate was repurchased from someone other than the actual thief, there is a good reason why it is illegal to be in possession of stolen property.

    And finally, as weird as it may seem, even if it was his to begin with, your buddy came to be in possession of a stolen tailgate, which obligates him to report it (if he hasn't already done so).
