All that stuff unbolts and comes off. Your problem would be you have all this shit laying around that you spent retail on and now either have to take it to a scrap yard or try and sell it for a fraction of what you ended up paying for it just to get the truck it was attached to.

It’s a bad financial situation as the lender has already suggested. I really don’t recommend eating it, it tastes bad already and apparently smells bad too.

Yep, I am actively doing some home stuff and in general, would like to use it for my bike one day and other stuff in the future.

The cig lighter is unused (spotless), but IDK. There are some vehicles I've been in, that lighter never gets used, but smell like a chimney. It has a weird carcinogenic, yet overly sweet scent I hate.

That aside, yes that is my major issue. For all I know they gave the guy no more than $15k for it and then want to hike it up above $20k. I'll guess I'll watch and wait. I think my biggest focus, is ditching my current vehicle. It is eating up to much of my reduced income and headache (squealing brakes, expensive servicing costs).

I actually resented this truck appearing so soon (in the marketplace), as I'm not 100% even prepared to deal with their BS and feel rushed to buy a replacement vehicle now.

What would you pay for that curiously? I wanted to pay $16k, but they have other ideas.

Sounds like some smarter financial decisions will work wonders. A 5-10 year old truck with 100k miles and $900 payments is out of control. Take the time to find a good condition, lower mileage stock Tacoma so you don’t make the same mistake.

Id pass on the truck and yes a $900 payment, about as dumb as it gets. May need to look in Dallas, San Antonio for a truck, may need to be willing to make a drive to save some money.

Cash is king. Dealers don’t like to cash walk out the door. 2 yrs ago when I bought my 2015 dealer was asking 25.5k for it I walked in with a 21k cashiers check filled out to the dealer and said figure it out you have an hour or I’ll just take the check back to the bank. Well it took them about 45 minutes to get the paperwork done.

Give them an offer and a phone number and walk out. If your phone rings you can always tell them no if you have changed your mind. If it never rings who cares. In the mean time try to sell your current truck and get away from that payment.

In a lot of areas you can't give a manual transmission vehicle away so it may have a major price drop before it's over.

I would hard pass because being at 143k miles (I think that's what you said) having that many mods, and being a 2009 that is way too high. Of course Tacoma's do have very high re-sale value but that is just way out of the price range for that truck. I'm thinking that's like a $16k truck maybeeee....? Any chance you could drive a few states over to find something else? It sounds like you want a stock truck with lower miles at a decent price so you might have to do some long distance driving or fly out and then drive it back.

    This.

I've bought a few and lost a few this way (all private party).

It's only worth x, regardless of what the seller thinks.

I'd also guess the dealer is anticipating someone (you?) trading in a vehicle they are upside down in and using the price to recapture lost equity.

Numbers are number and this common idea doesn’t add up.

Used Tacoma are 20 grand, so I spent 30 plus.

That’s still a difference if 10-15-20k of debt. After interest and time, even more.

Drive whatever is paid off, and while driving it for ten years or so pay yourself a few hundred a month in an account for a future vehicle. Once your car finally dies on you buy another used one in cash. No debt. No interest.

It's a 10 year old truck. The modifications mean nothing. The KBB is the price. The dealer is fishing for a retard with deep pockets. No bank is going to loan more than what the KBB says it's worth.

Offer them 15 percent less than the KBB value and see if they will open their ears.

Please don't fall for all the flash. It's worth nothing on the truck, but I bet you could offer it up for sale here on the site and pocket some cash.

Well considering I’ve seen 2009 salvage Tacomas that are basic for $15k consistently, this doesn’t seem to be a stretch

Damn I traded my 16 in and Blue Book put it around 28k and it was over 40k on the sticker. Fully loaded TRD O.R. dualcab. 3 year depreciation on the 16 was 12 k.
