Today is open registration for San Diego 2020 Comic Con. This is my first time trying to get a badge to go to Comic Con. I’ll be in the waiting room around 8am PST.

Anyone on this forum been to Comic Con? I’m looking for advice and tips for badge purchases, planning, and travels.

I am dying to see pictures post event. The one here in Phoenix was quite amazing from an outside perspective(was across the street more or less drinking).

Unfortunately I didn’t get pick to purchase a ticket this year. Reading their FB page, some people have been trying for 4-7 years to buy a ticket. I knew it was a big event but didn’t think it was that serious. Never been to one of those conventions and thought it would cool to experience. I’ll try Blizzcon next year or maybe another con that isn’t so huge.

This is what a friend did for about 8 years straight. About 6 of his SD friends would all put in for the tickets for everyone. Some years multiple people would get them and just sell the ones they didn’t use. I believe last year was the first time they all struck out.

From the pictures they shared, it was always an epic time. Long lines and party hard.

He did mention how huge this event was getting. Now he just a goes to the event in Denver.

I've read that you can form or join a buying group. Each person is allow to buy 3 tickets if you are selected. For example if you have 5 people in your group, only 2 people would need to be selected to purchase tickets for everyone in the group. So of course if you are in a bigger group, your chances of getting a ticket is higher. Not sure how they did it back then but now you have to register with Comic Con before hand to purchase tickets. Only people who have a registered Comic Con ID can purchase tickets or tickets purchased for them. Each ticket will have your name on it so you can not sell your ticket to anyone else. Also people who have attended the previous Comic Con will get first pick again. I am not sure if they do a lottery system for returning attendees.

That's totally different then. Guess that’s why they bailed on the ol’ annual guys weekend.
