2006 Tacoma PreRunner SR5, V6, auto, 128K miles, it runs and drives great.
I recently did a body lift on my Tacoma. During the install I discovered something. There are 3 lines connected to the fuel tank filler. One is the large hose for the actual fuel fill, the second hose is about 1/4" in diameter, and the third hose is about 3/4" in diameter and goes from the top of the fuel filler to a black box underneath the bed. The third hose (circled in red in the picture) appears to be a vent of some sort as it is located directly under the fuel cap at the top of the fuel filler. When I removed that third hose I found a lot of fine dust in it. I would guess at least a 1/2 Dixie cup of very fine dust. The PO of the truck did not live in or work in an area where fine dust would be a problem.

Why is that dust in there? What should I check/clean for more dust? Lastly where is the fuel filter in this truck?

It seems like I should just replace the fuel filter automatically. Thank you!

Maybe just spend the $100 on a new Denso fuel pump since everything is torn down.

At that point, do a URD pump upgrade so you get an external fuel filter.

That sounds interesting, I'll look into that.

If my wife finds out where I'm getting these ideas from I'll never be able to come back. $$$$$$. Lol

That’s a dangerous game to play. “It’s just another $100” escalates and next thing you know you have a fully rebuilt engine and a supercharger.

Yeah I'm already contemplating a supercharger.

Well, the bed's already off. Might as well boost it.
