I love 29 and the areas around it. Spent about 2/3 of my childhood there. Pioneer town to Big Bear is a nice easy trail if there's no snow, pretty much 2 wheel drive. It comes out at on Hwy 38. Can't remember the name of the road/trail but you can go down 38 just a mile or two and take a trail that will get you all the way into Big Bear.

You should check out all the BLM land east of town on 62. Go South on Gold Crown and it will take you to the Old Dale Mining District. Tons of mines out there and you can camp. There are better maps but this is the first one I found https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/4061-old-dale-road.html - It's not a dangerous road, fairly easy although you can run into some deep sand on the BLM side. I go out there quite a bit, will let you know when I'm going if you'd like to check it out.

Finally went out in the dirt today and had a blast! So much more to lean and so many questions.

When do I use for 4H?

What’s the max speed when in 4H?

does traction control need to be off in order to use 4L?

Is there a thread with all this info already? Lol

Yup. It was a super easy trail. Thinking about trying something a little more challenging next time. Either Cleghorn or Rohlwer Flats.

An oooold rule. 2 in, 4 out. If you're alone 2HI until you need 4HI, this keeps you honest and leaves lots of room for error.

4LO and the diff lock are for slow obstacles. Especially hills. It takes a lot of torque to get over rocks and up steep hills and it makes it a lot easier on the truck to be in 4LO, along with far more control.

Water crossings and really muddy trails sometimes need speed and wheel speed, so it takes experience.

I honestly use 4HI all the time but its often to keep up with trail mates.

+1 for berdoo cyn. Can be a little challenging in the narrows but no sweat for that truck. Post a few pics in there in the rough section. You got the right color for that area. Did it come with the Kings installed? Enjoy

It didn’t come with Kings. I did a ton of research before actually getting the truck so I had stuff pre ordered while waiting for it to come in. I also had a buddy recommend some parts. I’m a total nerd when it comes to cars, and now trucks. Lol

I’m actually heading back out to the desert tomorrow to check on the house. May find some BLM land to mess around on.

Found some BLM land behind my house today. A few sketchy spots that I avoided because it was just me and the pup.

Not sure if I needed it but got to test out 4low for the first time.

Hello. A couple of friends and myself are going to Pilot Rock this Saturday morning if you or anyone would like to come. It’s close to Cleghorn/Silverwood Lake. Like Cleghorn it has its easy to difficult off chutes. Definitely a place where you can test out. DM me if you’d like to come.
