No need to tow. You're fine limping it to the dealer with everything hooked-up - just keep the RPMs LOW and STAY OUT OF BOOST.

Having lived the "dream" of them being unable to flash my previously (T-SB-0044-14 Spark Knock Noise) flashed ECU, you should DEFINITELY do so!

What is this about? I was just gonna have a dealer in Houston or @loginfailed flash my truck. With the trd 90l. There are different versions of this or does the base matter from the n/a cal?

Once flashed for the TSB, the ECU shows a different calibration than stock. Toyota's system identifies the calibration before flashing. Since it no longer matched "stock," they were unable to install the TRD tune. I had to replace the Toyota-updated ECU with a "virgin" unit to permit install of the TRD tune.

All of this happened before OVT or HPT options were available, so YMMV, but it was an expensive addition to my S/C install project. :(

Sooooooo, I am looking to get my URD headers on this weekend. I have my permatex ultra copper and the associated hardware with the kit. I am SAI delete. I have read somewhere about replacing some studs with bolts but could not find it again. Is there any hardware recommended to source in this venture to make the process easier?

Go out the night before and spray penetrating oil on all of your manifold bolts. Let it sit overnight. Then do it again in the morning, wait a few hours, then do the install.

To confirm, HPT requires the TRD SC flash, correct? Does OVT require that too? It seems there is no inexpensive option for tuning :spending:

All tuning requires the baseline flash in order to be able to get started.

There is no inexpensive option for tuning but by getting dialed in correctly it willl ensure longevity and stable operation on your modded vehicle for years to come.

You kidding me? Those are inexpensive. Compare to what used to be either a UCON, or full standalone. Here's some perspective and enjoy the fact that it is so capable while simultaneously having such a small cost associated.

Is there a particular id I need to be aware of for the na flash that makes it unflashable for the trd 90l?

My question is what am I replacing with the ARP studs? I am using the studs that came with the headers then replacing the remaining factory studs with these? Is that 6 ARP studs I should order or more than that?

Sorry, but I am away for work and can’t go out and count them in my truck. I just want to have all my shit together for this weekend instead of waiting.

You could use the stock studs but some folks have had trouble with breaking them off while removing the stock heathers off the block. These ARP ones are a nicer option, kit comes with all the studs you need (if I recall).

Agreed. You should usually always replace the manifold studs when it comes time to do work involving manfold removal because the last thing you want is one of them snapping off while in service due to extensive heat cycling which eventually fatigues them and eventually causes them to snap.

This is not only cheap insurance but ARP has been in the fastener game for a long time and they produce the best stuff out there as far as improved over OE fasteners go @zippsub9

Damn I never knew that getting the TRD reflash was such a hassle these days. Is it just the newer tacoma models or some new TSB that is disruptive. I’ve been happy with my 2008
