I got this one in march and has done pretty damn good. I was able to adjust crossover well with stock speakers and it helped a lot with sound quality. has about every doo-hickey you need for connections n use. Had the late model in my prior ram for 5+ years no issues

Sony XAV-AX1000 with license plate frame backup camera. The unit allows for different background colors and one matches our orange nicely. It has Apple Car play so you can use your phone connection for navigation, but since I know my way to work, I just use a micro USB stick with my entire music library on demand. The display is tough to see in direct sunlight, but other than that it is easy to see and operate. The Bluetooth is clear and the other end hears you clearly too. I hooked up a powered under-seat subwoofer and the gain control resides perfectly where the cigarette lighter once was (no smoking in my truck!) The unit has crossover selections and subwoofer controls so the sound can be dialed in to your liking. I'm very happy with the way it looks and sounds.

Hey man. Nice system. What under seat, powered subwoofer do you have? It has been a while, but the last time I went to the audio store to check out a new system for my 04 double cab Tacoma they said there is nowhere to put a sub in the double cab.....so you have me intrigued. Shine on! Pete.

I'm old school so when this thing showed up with HD Radio and that Auto-EQ microphone function, :headbang:

Only thing I am disappointed with, it doesn't dim. I may have missed something in the settings since it is supposed to have a "10-level dimmer". Will have to check it again.

I love my 8 track player I don`t know what I will do if it breaks and can no longer be repaired .

I guess listen to the AM radio

I have installed it in every vehicle I drove since 1972

I would take a picture but I can never find the camera.

I installed this Pioneer AVH-501EX (current model is 521EX) around September on a close-out sale (199.99!!) because the new model came out ($100 more for virtually the same thing)... (501EX screen is 6.2 vs 6.7 on 521EX) Does everything I need and controls more stuff than I'll ever use. The apps and layout are as simple as using your phone and the rear-view camera is a added bonus since everyone knows reversing in the dark BLOWS on a tinted 1st Gen... HD radio works well although I use SiriusXM & streaming 95% of the time.

I've used Crutchfield.com almost exclusively for the last 25 or so years. The staff/tech is super helpful and they will send everything you need for installation down to the interior/dash/door/panel break-down illustrations, wires, brackets, speaker pods/adapters, etc. Lifetime customer product support is helpful if you decide to upgrade your current ride and outfit another vehicle with your old audio, they'll help you out with that too...

While I was at it, I took the opportunity to LED conversion the entire truck and update the gauges to 01-04 white face. Pics:
