What are you paying for 2020 Tacomas?

I didn't even negotiate and I got my truck for $42,000 and it's a 4*4 OffRoad.
I'm just giving my advice. If he wants to take it he can.

No I’m not triggered I’m calling you out on giving bad advice and being misinformed about MSRP. Do yourself a favor and actually build a loaded Sport and let me know what the MSRP is.

 

Sure looks like a $44k MSRP Sport to me...so yes telling him he could easily get one for $37-39k is unrealistic and bad advice. Your not gonna get a dealer to go $7k off MSRP on a Tacoma.

 

Its really good. I would say if you can get them to $40000 and then you use the $1k rebate to get you to $39000 you got a great deal. Despite the other negative clown in here, I've bought quite a few of these trucks and all different regions, as you mentioned 10-12% is the best you are gonna get, its all about maintaining resale value and they aren't exactly sitting on lots. Its a good time to buy with low rates, flat / negative car sales and end of year so dealers looking to meet sales numbers. Good luck but sounds like you know what you're doing!

 

Agree here also. We were looking for an off road with leather, advanced tech, and LED packages and the MSRP on all those trucks I saw ranged from $44,500 all the way up to $46,500 depending on how many small extras (steps, floor mats, bed mat, blackout, locking lug nuts, etc) were added. 10% off MSRP is a good deal.

edit: I’m sure different deals can be had in different regions. SoCal is notoriously difficult to get much discount, other regions where Tacoma’s aren’t quite as popular may be easier.

I just paid 42,000 for a loaded OR 4*4 in Hawaii.

Exactly, I've bought new in AZ, IL, PA and NJ. Best price I've ever gotten was here in IL (12.4% off MSRP) and that was with alot of back and forth and my last 19 a week or so ago. AZ I was able to get all my trucks (4 from 2 different dealers) at about 12% without any hassle (high inventory dealers, stock more tacomas than anything else, lol). I remember even when I bought my 16 right when they dropped, same thing around 10% off MSRP which was in NJ and there was a line of guys wanting the new 3rd gens so dealers werent moving below invoice. Can't have the best of both worlds (massive discounted price new and high resale). I think anybody getting 10-12% on a 2020 is getting a great deal and not missing out, the price isnt gonna move much further from there, just the way these trucks / Toyotas are, which we should all be grateful for come trade in time.

 

I talked to all the major dealers in my state, plus several in 3 other states, and only one would sell the 2020 AG Pro at MSRP, but no lower. Everybody else was at least 50k minimum. Many tried to push '19 Pros on me at 47k. When I informed one guy that I had an offer of 49k from a local dealer he gave me a smart-ass response about what a great deal it was (he listed his AG Pro for 52k).

When speccing out a 2020 OR with the Prem and Adv Tech package, the MSRP the dealers came up with was basically the same 47k as the one out of state Pro.

 

I noticed this too. Weird but it’s almost like the better value between a loaded TRD OR and Pro for 2020 is the Pro.

 

With the MSRP’s being so close on a loaded OR and a pro, I totally agree the better value is the pro. With that said, there was no way I could have got more than 10% off MSRP on a 2020 pro like I did with our OR, so for me the better value was the one I bought.

 

Very True factoring in most dealers won’t wheel and deal on new pros.

 

If I was offered 40k for the loaded OR with a 3 month wait, I would still be driving my '13 waiting for February. As it was, nobody offered more than a 2k difference between a loaded OR and the Pro I ended up with.

Oh, and shout out to the sales person at Jim Norton OKC who tried to tell me there was no difference between the '19s and the '20s.

 

If the difference between my OR and a pro was only $2k I would have bought the pro for sure. In the SoCal market the difference between my discounted OR and a pro at or above MSRP would have been more like $7-8k.

 

I would buy a Pro for 10% off MSRP.
