Without having read through all the 11 pages of responses. I'll throw in my 0.2 its not the trans you are having an issue with (yes they are very searchy and will last about 100k as a result.) Your issue is the electronic throttle response. When car corporations took away the good ol' throttle cable, so we could have fancy shit like adaptive cruise control and the likes, this is what you get. You basically have two options here. 1:buy an after market pedal repsonder (https://www.amazon.com/Pedal-Commander-throttle-response-controller/dp/B00O82ZD62) or 2: get your truck re-geared (or both) such as I did. Depending what your plans are, will depend on the gearing choices. With a re-gear it better matches load, to demand, and is quicker on acceleration.

In short. keep your truck, you worked hard to get it, enjoy it, love it, and continue to make it yours. There's lots of options out there.

If all else fails magnuson will be releasing a super charger for gen3's in 2021 :)

I could have written this exact post myself.
I had the exact same experience with my truck shortly after buying it.
I immediately learned that I cannot trust it to do what its supposed to do when I want it to do it.

    Same here.
I will put up with it until equity is high enough to walk away.
Right now I feel stuck with it.
The Pedal Commander and ECT always on mod have helped tremendously, but there is no cure for the engine/transmission/gear ratio clusterfuck we have for a drivetrain.

My guess is... based on my similar experience going around turns... is that the truck has a gyro and it cuts power if a hard turn is detected, preventing the truck from overturning.
Problem is... its likely calibrated WAY too conservatively.

Turbo or none Turbo?? I owned both. With the 1st Gen W123 none turbo you hit the pedal crossed the fingers that the Check for the Vatican cleared on time and put you "I don,t give a shit" face on and go and enjoy all the honking behind you. On a bright side if you drifted behind a Semi you could get 40 mpg plus out of that motor.:rofl::eek:

I like this. Can we please get into the weeds on the waveforms though? All the other guys made my other post look like a shitpost, but I was actually ready for a mini clinic on the waveforms. At least link a brother to a YouTube video or white paper or something.

The only thing that I assumed is that they were not sticking up for each other, only that they were agreeing about you being wrong, which you were, whether you agree or not, which also makes my assumption about them correct. Everything else that I stated was purely observational analysis based on the words that you typed and shared with us all, which consisted of you asking & answering your own questions about people that you don't know, which is simply dumb. That's just a fact. You did that. No one else. It's dumb for anyone to do something that dumb. & if you don't think that it was dumb, well that just proves my point even more... But congrats on your credentials that no one asked you about. Your "self-qualified" & "pretty sure" descriptions of your own knowledge do not display that you have much confidence in your skills. While your "self-qualified" assessment of knowing what you're talking about is "pretty sure", you can be confident that my assessment of what you said was dumb. I'm fully sure about that. Again, this is solely based on your words, not your skill-set... But if you would rather run away instead of learning something by soaking up information that you didn't know, that's fine by me. Some people are content being uniformed. I personally think that it's dumb, but that's just me. You do you... Oh, & i don't need your blessings, but thanks anyway...

And you're a Mo-rine to boot... Don't be upset because your ass rides in Navy equipment. Some of my best friends are Marines. Sure, they don't have to score as high on the ASVAB to be an avionics technician as sailors do, but I wouldn't automatically assume they're all idiots because "my neighbor had the same job as you" and he wasn't "the sharpest tool in the shed". Like I told the other guy, assumptions do you no good.

I've experienced situations with automatic transmissions that were GENUINELY dangerous. What you've describe isn't. There is NO situation where you have to "gas aggressively" for safety -- if there is a situation that you believe requires this kind of response, it means that you've made a bad decision and have created a danger for yourself. ANYTHING can happen at any moment. Imagine if you had a tire blow out instead of a shift failure. Imagine if all the electronics suddenly decided to shut down.

It isn't just about not pulling out in front of cars. Its about seeing what cars are coming, and actually gauging what they are doing before you enter the road with them. If cars are coming so fast that you couldn't safely enter the road driving a tuk tuk, then YOU WAIT.

If you want to know about an ACTUAL dangerous situation that can be created by an automatic, its ICE. Go try to pass someone by very gently accelerating on ice, and if the damned thing decides to downshift and blow your traction.... THAT is dangerous, and that is one of the reasons why I stick exclusively to manual transmissions, because I know that no matter what, I am in charge of it.

    Moron + Marine = Mo-rine

Just a service to service joke, like him calling me a squid. It's all in good fun. Everyone is getting so worked up... It's like the great battle of 2008 in my workcenter where we tried to determine which was the better movie, Tropic Thunder or Step Brothers.

No, sir. Not at all. That would be an ignorant assumption on your part. Dumb even... I was merely explaining that what you said was dumb, as simply & eloquently as possible, as not to confuse you... But you confusing that with being "triggered" is also dumb, for the reason listed above...

See the question mark at the end? That suggests that one is being asked. A question is not an assumption; a question is a tool to extract information. In fact, one could argue that a question is the complete opposite of an assumption.
