That’s the beauty of FI. I didn’t buy the Tacoma for making that type of power or for power in general but man I sure do enjoy it when getting in those high output engines. What’s really impressed me is their MPG when you aren’t getting on it. Hard to believe a truck with those types of numbers get in the high teens.

I saw a sweet I believe king ranch and it had me second guessing my ram for a mintue

After having my new ram, driving a couple trips with it with my dad in the back seat and talking how roomy and comfy it is. I will never be able to go back to a mid size for my only truck, granted I do have my 1st gen still.

Built ford tough? More like built Toyota tough. Both myself and the other driver were okay, and after the tow truck pulled me down I was able to finish my drive to work in my Tacoma.

I've debated getting an older LC. People still want pretty good money for them and the gas mileage still sucks, BUT it would have room for the whole family and still serve as an adventure rig.

For all the reasons @GreeGunc said, the full size is very appealing. Not to mention the 3.5L ecoboost is rated to tow 13k+ lbs. We get north of 20 mpg hwy in the expedition. I assume the F150 would be similar.

    To @r0bn8or 's point, I drove home:

    The Dodge did not.

The guy admitted to his insurance that he tried to step on the brake and accidentally stomped on the gas. I'm guessing he was doing 30 or more when he hit me at a dead stop.

My grandfather has a 2014 Limited f150. That ecoboost is awesome. It has so much torque and I've pulled several of my broken jeeps with it. You hardly notice 7000 lbs back there and it'll still climb hills at 3000 rpms with that load.

That's crazy. The girl that hit me got a ticket for following too close. Even the cop was impressed at what we managed to do.

My Laramie has the 3.21 gears and at 75 to 80 the rpms are lower than my 1st gen at 55. The best I’ve gotten so far is 22 hwy on 85 going to Augusta staying at 80mph. In town it drops to 18 give or take. My 3rd gen was getting its best 22mpg at 65mph.

The power of the hemi is always there with that 8spd trans. Doesn’t take long at all to reach Highway speeds, an the Limited interior is light years ahead of any platinum tundra or pro. If of course you can afford that jump in price

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I can’t believe what I am hearing ;( you guys need to get in a Landcruiser. Then you will experience what a yota is about. These new ones blow and don’t follow to the same homage that the older ones did.

FWIW, my daily is a 2018 F150 XLT 302A with FX4 and the 3.5L EcoBoost. I LOVE the truck so far, I’ve had it for a little over a year now.

Unfortunately I don’t have any wheel time in a LC. However, I have heard nothing but good things from their older year models. For LC money I’d still find myself looking at the 3.5 HO motor. I’m completely content with the Tacoma. I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. When the time is right, a full-size will definitely be my next purchase though.

I have been pretty impressed with the towing for a mid-size though. I’m not sure what others tow, but hay is no joke when it comes to weight. She won’t win any races, but it gets the job done every time. 56F27393-5859-4CA8-8568-657D7259F838.jpg

My man! Please post up initial reactions and a follow up after some wheel and tow time. This is something I am heavily considering along with several others here it seems. Will be nice to get some honest input instead of the over glorification that goes on in the 3rd gen forum.

Well you know me, I am a straight shooter. You will get a detailed review of all my thoughts. It pains me to have to spend 2700 just to get my taco to pull...hell my 2nd gen taco could pull a tandem loaded down with SxSs and bikes.
The drivetrain in this 3rd gen has been driving me nuts. I have a couple friends that are serious with their builds. All have said the 5.29s puts it back in the sweet spot. Only time will tell.
If I am not happy for some reason my taco will be sold and my focus will be on the 4runner. Which, I will share pics with y’all shortly has had a couple mods done as well.
I have been thinking of picking up a LC that is maybe 6yrs old or so and building that out. Have not had the one with the 5.7 yet.

Only reason I want the Lariat over the XLT is leather. I didn't see a way to add leather to the XLT.

Agreed. I've towed an estimated 6500lbs, which is right at the max that it is rated to handle. It got the job done.

You would be right. I think it used to be an option on the 2015-2017, but not anymore. The main two things I REALLY wish I had from the Lariat and above are A) the 8” LCD gauge cluster, and B) the 360 degree parking cam.
