I am looking to lift my new 4x4 Tacoma OR. At the most I’d like to be looking at a 3 inch lift, but ideally around the 2 inch mark or 2.25 inch mark. Price is also an issue for me as I’d like to stay well under $1000.

On a side note, I’ve also had a friend of mine tell me that I need to get the rear end re-geared before I do the lift. Is that the general consensus on here as well? Thanks.

You would need to regear both diffs. Regear isn’t necessary with a lift, more dependent on tire size.

Regear for what? Recommend you put some miles on the truck before changing it.

Bigger tires that would typically come with a lift.

OP I’d ignore your friend on that topic. Plenty of lift options in your budget, though you won’t see 3”, and don’t want to get UCAs if your budget is $1k for everything.

Might wanna regear more than just the rear diff if you ever decide to turn that 4x4 knob. It can be done with only the rear, once.

Visit the vendor list on the left of the main page and I'm sure any one of them is willing to take your money and answer questions about what parts to buy that will meet your desires.
