Thanks. Quite a tradeoff. Insulated walls vs a great door solution.

Yeah, it's a giant uninsulated section. I'm hoping to buy or make some removable panels that I can put over them and the front and back windows as well.

Maybe 1 Frontrunner door and solid opposite may be the answer for me but what do I lose without 2 of them?

In a nutshell, easy access to one side of your bed. But, it really all depends on what kind of build you're looking to do. I think there are a bunch out there with only one windoor maybe someone will chime in on why they went that route. I've seen quite a few builds with accessories mounted where the window would be.

That was my decision to go w/ a windoor on just the driver's side. Having more area on the outside & inside for mounting things. I have double windoors on my Leer cap which are so great, so I am still on the fence somewhat, but in the end I think it will be the way to go if your talking about dedicated camping rig and having storage in there all the time. If you are going to be someone that really wants to use their truck as a truck when they are not camping and not removing the Drifter, I can definitely say I would probably go w/ doors on both sides for access.

I chose to only have a windoor on the driver side - easiest to access when hopping out of the truck and passenger side is a little more work to get to with the swingout open. Mounted on the outside of the passenger side are my maxtraxx and port for shower. Plus I wanted a tall cabinet on the passenger side.

So... Beer:30 on the trail means the swingout has to open, the tailgate drops, the fridge slides out, then opens, and you finally pull a cold one out?

I am hoping to not have the fridge on a slide at all, and access it through the passenger-side Frontrunner, without having to open anything else up.

    Is this a difficult reality?

IMO you are gonna want a slide or you are always gonna be up on your tailgate. Yes I can grab a beer or whatever from the passenger side door without opening the rear up, but cooking meals and frequent fridge access times won’t be fun without a slide. You will either constantly be walking around your swingout or on your tailgate.

You do you. The only time I like cooking inside is when it’s raining or snowing outside.

This is how I have mine setup, cause I didn't want the extra weight and height from the slide. Though mine is on the driver side and butted up against the tailgate, so fridge or freezer compartment is accessible through the windoor, and fridge is also accessible from the back.

I as well am set up like this where I can access by just opening the rear hatch. I don't have windoors or side access.

Yeah it might be nice to hang items from the inside or utilize taller items that may block the windoor. On the other hand, a windoor would help if you built out some kind of kitchen that you could utilize from outside. Sort of like an ALU but not on the wall. Yep, my wheels are turning.

Yeah, exactly. I have a tall counter on the passenger side, with kind of a storage shelf right underneath that I left open towards the outside so everything there is still accessible through the windoor from outside.

obv YMMV, but I would just have a small cooler.

I avoid cooking anything in the vehicle with oils because they end up sticking to everything and eventually go rancid.

Everything in my fridge is frozen anyway. I put stuff I'm defrosting (steak, string beans, broccoli) into the cooler where it cools down beverages. If I need to fast chill something, I just put additional drinks in the fridge and run a usb powered fan to circulate air and set a 15 minute alarm on my phone.

Its on a slide and the top flips open. If I need anything from the fridge I can access it through the opposite side windoor with my short ass standing on the tire. Imagine my ass in the air, it's not a good look, but very effective and no fucks given.
    fight me
Yeah I plan on having pictures of trips and other stuff on the little blank space on top of the fridge. Everything with the Drifter is pretty set functionality wise, so now just adding to the decor

Thanks to everyone that answered this question and @belloinsella already has something in the works. He's a Frontrunner dealer and ordered Gullwing doors a few months ago to come up with an insulation panel. It has been challenging due to the shape of the internal reinforcement.

Regarding side access... everyone made great points and it's all about preference. I don't have side access. When on the trail, the (2) recovery bags move from the DS front cabinet (in the camper) to the floor behind my seat. Winch controller is in a bag on the seat back molle panel. I don't mind opening the swingout for a beverage. I'll grab a few and put them in an insulated lunch bag. La Croix's of course . For others, the side access is a game changer.

It's your camper and it should be spec'd the way you want it! Within our available options of course...;)
