Glad I came across this as my clutch/trans crapped out on me last week. Guessing the TOB finally had enough. I was running the URD stage 2 clutch with heavy fly wheel. Are we certain that the CM kit is compatible with other clutch kits?
Not being familiar with CM can anyone recommend a good clutch from them that would hold up to occasional off-road/crawling abuse with city driving?

After seeing a comment on this thread about Black Friday deal I started looking, but didn’t see anything either. Decided to just give them a call after work today. Dude said it’s been going on all week, and runs till Monday. He did also say group buy is coming, but you’ll have hope enough people jump on board. I think he said he had 6 in stock when I ordered mine.

Hello. Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section. I have a 2005 tacoma 6 speed that the tranny just died in. I'm stuck in neutral, will not engage any gear. Something is wrong internally. My question is this. Can I swap a fj cruiser tranny straight in? Only difference I can tell is 6th gear is slightly lower geared. I've searched but am unable to find a definite answer. Thanks.

About 50 miles with the new bearing. One word... WoW.

There was however an issue with the line plug where it wouldn’t stay put. RTV was required.

If using the ClutchMasters hydraulic throwout bearing,

what other parts should be used/installed, for a stock 2nd gen? (no extra power such as supercharger)
I've seen mention of CM FX100, OEM parts, and other aftermarket options.

wasn't sure if I should put a new clutch kit in mine while dropping the trans to install hydraulic bearing,
so I tried looking up clutch parts to see what they cost.

Also not sure if the stock flywheel is single or dual mass, and how to resurface it. Never resurfaced flywheels before, only replaced them.
RockAuto lists one for $70 new, part number LUK LFW260. Looks to be a single mass.
I hear the OEM clutch maker is Aisin.

have been experiencing worsening squeak noises and a clutch pedal that doesn't feel as good anymore; trail abuse probably didn't help.
~135k miles; previous owner probably didn't know how to drive it well either, judging by their failure to replace the worn crappy OEM shift knob.

everyone tells me I'd be dumb to not install a new clutch while I'm in there, if I have the transmission dropped to install the hydraulic bearing.
Though I don't mind spending the couple hours to do that.

I went with the URD stage 3 clutch, got it on their Black Friday sale. Planning on dropping the drivetrain and installing everything in the next few weeks as I have some extra vacation time to use by the end of the year

When using the CM hydraulic throwout bearing, no other parts need to be installed. The kit was designed to work with the factory clutch stack height which is what all clutch kit manufacturers build their clutches too. I'm running the Clutch Masters FX100 in my FJ and it has been a dream to drive. Some of the other clutch manufacturers really start to get stiff pedals with the way they engineer them.

The stock flywheel is a single mass flywheel and can be resurfaced. I'd resurface the factory flywheel before buying a flywheel for $70 on Rock Auto.

Yes you should 100% install a new clutch with that amount of mileage if you are dropping the transmission to put the CM hydraulic TOB kit in!
