A few weeks back we purchased a 1996 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab. We got a good deal on it and it's in great shape for it's age. Love this truck.
    BUT
What I thought would happen did. My o'l lady, who I got it for, changed her mind and decided an access cab with 4 doors would be MUCH better.
    So guess what?
I just made a great deal, I hope, on a 2006 Tacoma 4x4 access cab, SR5, TRD Sport with V6 and automatic. It has a 2" lift with a leveling kit.
The dog really likes the larger area behind the cab and I really like not having to move the seat to access that area.
I just brought it home tonight and didn't have a chance to get any good pics but I got this one.
I forgot to mention it has a Magnaflow Catback exhaust system. Sounds great.

Congrats, truck looks great! Hope you looked over the frame, unfortunately that truck is out of the recall range for a frame replacement

Thanks, The frame is rust free and looks to be in great shape if that is what you are referring to. Was there anything else?

LOL I'm holding off on any real money mods for a while. It has most everything I wanted from the lift to the great sounding Magnaflow Exhaust system and the limited slip diff.
However the anytime on fog lights and a chirp when locking and unlocking the vehicle look like mods I may take on right away.

    Original motor?
    What the production date?

Early ‘06 V-6s had an old head gasket design that was replaced sometime in Nov/Dec ‘05. The older design is reported to be susceptible to leaks esp if the motor overheats.

Don’t mean to cause alarm, it’s something you should know...

Yep just the frame! Unfortunately there's a major issue with these trucks where the frame rusts out. There's a recall that allows a complete frame replacement up to 12 years after the original sale date for the truck. However if you inspected and it's rust free then you should be good to go, just make sure you rust proof! Most recommended on here is Fluid Film, it's a cheap and easy way you can rust proof the frame yourself and only need to do it once per year or so

It's been in Oregon most of it's life and not subject to salt on the roads. I've looked at quite a few trucks up here and have not seen any appreciable rust on any of them. If your looking for a clean rust free frame the PNW is a good place to look.

After driving my ‘07 AC, OR 4.0 351,000 miles, I still got over $5,000 for ‘er!

    Great trucks these are.

    The
The extra doors in the Gen2 sure make the difference. And it's mostly for the dog.
