My 2011 Off-Road has a problem with its bluetooth hands free phone connection. When ever I make a call the static on my side makes it close to unusable. Think old time static crackling and popping. This happens with multiple phones and the person on the other side says I sound fine. The stock radio and Toyota's hands free dialing work fine, so I don't think its the bluetooth microphone or speaker connections.

My guess is there's a loose connection in the bluetooth system. Before I blindly go poking around under the dash, does anyone know where it might be located?

Did you ever figure out what happened here? My 2013 does the exact same thing.

I never did figure out what the problem was. I found the microphone is on top of the rear view mirror, and I looked for a loose connection without any luck. I just got an iPhone 11 and the problem has mostly, but not completely, been resolved with that phone.
