Doesn't sound like you were charged the higher price for the sr5, so don't think you have much to go on.

I have a set of SR fog lights with covers if you want them just cover shipping. They are just sitting in my garage. You will need the wiring harness, relay, and stalk with foglight switch if you're pre wired for it

No 4 cylinders were pre-wired for fogs in second gen trucks.

    not sure if that changed.

    Bummer, that sucks.
On the bright side now you have a good reason to mod your truck! Squadron fogs and SCS wheels please!

If you paid less than what an sr5 would cost and you didn't care much about the extra features, which is apparent since you didn't consider them when comparing it to the other more expensive Tacomas, then it's not so bad.

You have also have to do your due diligence, can't expect to get mad about someone selling you chicken advertised as a lobster but also priced like chicken would be.

It's scummy but salesman find ways to trick people quite often, not all, but many.

Use the 2k in savings for mods and you will probably end up with better parts than an sr5.

The only question that matters is: did you pay more for the ‘18 SR than the KBB value given the mileage, etc.? If you haven’t, this is still a fair deal. Enjoy the truck, upgrade if you want, or sell it and buy something else.

Sounds like you were happy with the truck when you bought it.

Used vehicles can deviate from the factory condition in any number of ways, with prior damage, wear & tear, equipment added/removed by the previous owner, etc. Since you physically test-drove the truck and saw it had no fog lights, no fancy wheels, no chrome bumper... before handing over the money, means the dealer didn't misrepresent the truck to you. As long as the price you paid is comparable to other SR-trim trucks of similar age and mileage, there's no meaningful recourse.

Take some time to read through this forum and you'll realize all the missing stuff have better aftermarket upgrade paths. Most people black out the chrome exterior bits with paint or plastidip. LED fog lights are available from 3-4 good brands. Endless options for better wheels and off-road tires. Leather or neoprene seat covers and upholstery from 3-4 good brands. Typical mod- and accessory spending is $3000-8000, according to the Tacoma's chief engineer

Yeah, I unfortunately have to agree with it being a hard lesson learned young... Good news is you had your parents there with you and even though it turned out to be a different model than you thought, you don't have a lemon on your hands and you still have a truck with legendary reliability.

99 times out of 100, any time a salesman even casually brings up their faith, it's bullshit and they're playing you. I once bought a 20-year-old Land Rover off a VERY sleazy buy-here-pay-here lot, and while the salesman was telling us a story about how he once fucked a customer on his desk, I couldn't stop looking at the picture of Jesus he had hanging in the corner of his office. That car broke down on the Skyway Bridge in Tampa on the way home from the dealership. #lessons. Chalk it up and move on.

If you want an entune plus radio I know a guy selling one.
I'll also trade you my chrome bumper caps and chrome grill surround thingy for yours.

saying you got scammed is taking it too personally,

nobody was out to rip you off, probably just due to oversight, enjoy the truck, it's the same one you bought and wanted either way

    and live and learn!

congrats on the sweet ride for someone your age

Remember how happy you were driving it off the lot? Keep that feeling.

Warn your friends and don't go back to them. Lesson learned but be happy with what you've got. Besides when I was 18 I was driving a puke green, early 70s land barge. I was happy as I could be (after I replaced the am radi) and was always squeezing every mph out of that that 351 clevend could muster.

Be happy with what you have. My first car was a 95 Corolla, didnt even come with a clock (that was an option back then). Over time I went to scrap yards and upgraded it with optional equipment (clock, dash cluster with a tach, different trim pieces) Was fun and a taught me alot about the car and mechanics.

Not much you can do unless the paperwork states it was an SR5. Even then, it's been months.

All I can think about is the trailer park boys bible pimp episode after reading the OP's description of the salesman. Cracks me up...

Nice truck kid. I wouldn't be to upset about it.

there's really not much different between a base SR and base SR5. some of the features you listed only comes on the 32k SR5's.

intermittent wipers and fog lights install will be a good start for you to learn how to mod your truck.

    OP:

Don't let it bug you. The past is the past. your 18. You have a 2018 Tacoma. Keep shit in perspective here.

As other have said, you have learned a very valuable lesson for relatively cheap. ALL SALES PEOPLE are in the business to make as much money as possible for the least amount of effort on their part. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. It's the name of the game.

Some are more honest than others. But at the end of the day they are there for one reason. A paycheck.

If your VIN matches the VIN on the loan and bill of sale, then learn from your mistake and do your research on all big purchases.

More than once, I've seen TRD Offroads advertised as TRD Pros.
