That’s still a pretty damn good price on a set of headlights that don’t have broken mounting tabs or otherwise in bad shape. I’m having a hard time figuring out why you’re so upset.

Hell, I scratched mine in the same spot when removing them for the first time.

don’t trd headlights normally go for $500+ anyway ??

I’d agree he ditched on the seller quickly but the seller is a scammer so fuck it

I seem to be the only one sticking up for him hoping that he’s honest like myself. If he ends up rectifying the problem, I’ll happily delete the thread. I wasn’t even planning on posting the listing until someone started asking about the description and photos

So here’s a thought if you are in fact out of money. Your headlights are good (assuming here. You don’t want cut your headlights for a retro. At worst case scenario you use the base of these lights for the retro then you use your good lens to finish? I mean the easiest part of the whole retro fit is baking them apart.

I know it’s not the perfect scenario but it’s a silverish lining so to speak.

My headlights are perfect. The plan was just to retrofit them and then swap them out so I don’t have to have the front end pulled apart for a long time.

I'd almost be bold enough to say the seller knew they were damaged by the angles of the photos. See how he captures more of the lens for the right assembly than he does for the left one (assuming that left one is the damaged one)

You could always do the retro on these. Then swap lenses before you install. Best way to recover the bad situation

OP don’t let anyone make you feel bad about calling the dude out. Fuck that dude. He sold something used & didn’t list any noticeable imperfections. When someone buys something used, they don’t want to know what’s right with the item. They want to know what’s wrong with it, if anything, because it’s used. That’s common sense. If you sell something used, note any & all imperfections; a scratch, a stain, a pube you couldn’t get to. Let any & all potential buyers know exactly what they’re paying for. Assholes do business the way this guy did you. If he’s not an asshole, he’s a moron for thinking that someone wouldn’t mind a surprise gash in their headlight. The gash is probably exactly why he sold it in the first place. What a dick... This is precisely why i don’t buy anything used. Good luck OP.

I would be too, ive personally made the decision to never buy used lights for this reason. And if I sell lights I will include the appropriate insurance and buyer will pay it or no sale. That way the buyer is protected as well as me.

Dude, the pics were off another website and someone else’s headlights. It was a scam from the beginning.

That said, you’re right also. You newer TW members can learn from this.. the 50 posts rule was started because of scammers and deceptive sellers using this forum to fuck people out of money. We’re a specific niche, and a hot Tacoma product can be an easy sale and there’s a lot of money to burn here for an enthusiast site. PayPal Gift has become a mainstay, as has trust. All that aside, be smart. 50 posts is a minimum, but there’s a TON of guys that join only to sell. Look at the Banned Member thread for an example of BST violators. It’s a big problem.

I’d suggest a lot of covering your own ass for any member here that isn’t a long time member with a track record of posts, and good behavior. It’ll cut down heavily on your risk, and even then, use your head if it’s money you can’t afford to lose, however small the risk.

For new/newer members with low activity and low post counts, cover your ass.

It was a stupid mistake on my part, I should have never gifted the money. I need to remember not everyone is as trustworthy as myself.
