I usually park my truck on my driveway. I sprayed it with fluid film few days ago and had to park it on the street in case it dripped so it won’t stain the driveway. Sure enough the school bus came and caused some damage rear end of driver side.
Waiting on insurance before taking it to a body shop. Do you guys think that the whole bedside need to be painted? There is some damage to the bumper and also superficial scuff marks over the flare that seem can easily buffed.

Wow a school bus driver hits a parked vehicle. I'd be questioning the safety of the kids..
That's an easy fix. Since insurance will be covering the repairs, I wouldn't be surprised if they want to paint the entire fender/quarter panel. They will easily turn a $$$ into a $$$$ job.

The driver didn’t even notice it. It was on a cul de sac and when the bus was turning its long ass clipped the truck. We caught it on security camera.
And yes I agree with you about $$$. If there were no paint damage I would consider paint less ding removing then change the damaged parts. I honestly don’t want to mess with the originality of the truck

To correctly repair it, the whole bed side needs to be painted.

Why buff anything? School board has to foot the entire bill. Paint entire side of the bed.

A good paint guy can paint half the bedside and do a good blend towards the front and you won’t notice any color difference. Now if have to paint the flare, if you notice all the flares have a little bit of a dull and textured finish, the flare he paints will not match the others it will the finish’s that’s on the metal body panels.(I know I’ve had it done and didn’t like so you have all the flares painted so the finish matched).

This is what I do. I would buy a new tail light, make sure it's not gonna rust, and rock that little dent for the next two decades.

Agree with what everyone said. If you don't mind the small dent, just buy an ebay tail light and pocket the rest of the money.

That's really lucky how LITTLE damage was made by the ass end of a school bus.
Its pretty bad how those school buses are built. Put basically a retired old person into a vehicle with its rear axle half way up to the front, and bad things are bound to happen.
