As of this morning my truck no longer makes the lock beep/flash confirmation. It was fine yesterday and not today. I've gone through settings on the gauge cluster and the radio and can't seem to find any setting that changes this. Googled some and found a highlander thread claiming the actuators go bad causing this same issue on the 13+ highlander. Anyone have any tips or experienced this? I'd rather not make a trip to the dealer.

Like I said 3+ trips to the dealer and a different truck isn't what I'm after here.

Read your owners manual then go to the dealer that's what they are there for, check engine light on?

How many more posts of new owners who cannot use 4wd? I am totally not surprised with this crap being posted. I am not kidding....

Have time to post, but not go to the dealer to have it looked at.....really?

Some people have jobs that extend outside of dealerships service hours. I'm at work before they open and get off after they close 99% of the time. Finding 3 minutes to make a post online is a whole lot easier than finding a way to take time off work, drive 30 minutes to the dealership, having them take their sweet time looking at it, then another 30 minutes home. God forbid someone comes here looking for others who have had similar problems.

For what it's worth the problem is fixed for now. The lock on the rear drivers side door was hung up somehow halfway between lock and unlock keeping the door locked and this causes the lock flash/ beep not to function apparently. Maybe Toyota did this so that your attention would be brought to the issue? Hope this can help someone else if they have a similar issue.

This happens if you lock it with the key with the door open. The doors lock, but no beep or flash. Then, once you shut the door, it beeps and flashes and it remains locked.

It’s been known to happen on many cars that the lock can occasionally (rarely) get stuck in the middle. Happened to me before when one of my passengers pulled the handle while it was unlocking. Had to move it by hand to get it to “reset”.

I wouldn’t get mad about it. You live and you learn.

Same exact thing happened to me. This thread helped resolve the issue. Thanks!
