OK backed into a tree. I know should have been a little more observant. Cracked my passenger side tail light. Ordered one from ebay. Installed. Fits ok but have no backup lights on that side or brake lights on that side (when lights are on). Any ideas on what to do

I would start by visually inspecting the wiring harness on the truck and make sure it wasn’t damaged. Then I’d take the tail light from the other side and plug it in, and see if the light works. Use a known good to narrow it down to a wiring problem, or a new light problem.

if you narrow it down to the light itself, swap in some known good light bulbs to narrow it down to the new light, or the light bulbs. That will give you a definitive answer.

    1. Check the bulbs
    2. Check the fuses
    3. Check the output at the bulb sockets with a test light

You mentioned "no brake lights (when lights are on)", does that mean the brake lights work when the lights are off? If it does then it's a problem with the ground for the lights.

Poor quality bulb sockets and/or poor quality electrical plug is most likely the culprit.

Good input, forgot to think of fuses. Maybe when the old one got crunched, some wiring got exposed and blew a fuse.

The TAIL fuse is one of them. Not sure what the rest are.

Update to taillight problem. Checked fuses (reinstalled cracked taillight and it works fine) Blinker and backup light are bulbs and they work. Problem seems to be with the led brake light which when the headlights are on stays on very bright as if brake pedal was depressed. Is there a fix or is this just an aftermarket piece of junk? Thanks all,

If you tried the cracked one and it works totally normal, but the new led one doesn’t work normally, sounds like it’s just a shitty light. I’d contact whoever sold it to you
