i just ended this little one.

    IMG_20191122_212609.jpg

i really like it for a goto.. it's like sweet tea easy, but it's also that simple. i have also tried Bernheim Original wheat which is nice but i don't like it as much. I'm looking for that sweet and smooth but with more of the other qualities.

having said that, any specific recommendations for me? I'm thinking another Weller, older etc, but don't know what to look for [and i haven't seen any other Weller's around yet anyway].

I haven't tried any of those save the 17 GTS which I absolutely LOVED. Man, I need more Booker's. I haven't seen country ham out here yet.

I may have a line on a 25th, and that's why I asked about that one as well.

Another cheap, sweet, and easy sipper is Evan Williams 1783, and if you want more bite Evan Williams bottled in bond is fantastic, probably the best bang for the buck bourbon on the market IMO.

For something between those two I highly recommend Elijah Craig small batch. Super easy and delicious, consistently. Store picks can be great too, but they don't stray too far from the standard offering.

Can you tell that I'm a Heaven Hill fanboy?

I love that stuff. Bummed I couldn't find a batch 12 near me this year though... been milking a batch 11 bottle since February!

For 25% of the cost of GTS it’s worth it. I will keep an eye out for you here locally for a batch 12 if your needing one.

I had a glass of Old Forester 1910 tonight. Not too bad, a little weak and nothing special to it. I'm glad I got a chance to taste it before spending the cash on it.
Side note: Turns out my wife likes old fashion's. This will come in handy.

I definitely like the TR. I was passing close by the bottling plant one day and stopped and knocked on the door. The invited me in and gave me a tour. They were still hand bottling at the time but they showed me their new automated line, which coincidentally, a friend of mine did the controls installation for. I do wish I had saved one of the hand filled bottles sealed but, the last one fell when my mother-in-law passed.

Things may have changed in the years since but back then, the people at TR were a bunch of smiling, hand-shaking good folks.
