I'm not sure what you're asking goes into the plug you are holding. Are you referring to the red connector for the DRLs as the first poster of this thread is showing? If so, that is not the correct plug. The red connector for the DRLs clips into the slot where the parking light amber bulb would have been connected. Pretend that red connector is a bulb and just swap that with the original amber bulb. It doesn't make a lot of sense without pictures. Sorry I didn't take any.

Hey guys could use some help here ... I (mostly) have these installed but the DRL are not wired yet on my 2009.

I'm not seeing how the "red dohicky" shown in OP fits into the factory housing that contained the amber bulb. I've removed the amber bulb from the gray housing but the red piece won't plug into the gray housing.

That "red dohicky" should look exactly like the half of the bulb you unplugged & plug in place of the bulb you pulled out. If not, you unplugged the wrong bulb. It's the small amber park light bulb (the one that comes on when you click the headlights stalk forward one click) that you pull out of the longer gray plastic part that came out of the OEM headlight housing.

Thanks for your help. I want to make sure I understand here:

Figure A (amber bulb in gray housing)

    20180804_143925.jpg

Figure B (amber bulb outside of gray housing)

    20180804_144232.jpg

    Figure c (red dohicky)

    20180804_144013.jpg

Are you saying i should be able to plug red thing into gray housing (that the amber bulb was previously in) as shown in Figure c ? Because I can tell you it is too small to fit.

Right concept, wrong bulb connector. It's the little smaller bulb side marker (or parking light) connector that the red thing fits into. (at least that is how the stock headlight set up was on my 2010 TRD. Maybe it's different depending on year and model.

What you're holding, if i'm not mistaken, looks like the turnsignal bulb and connector that you "reuse" and seat into the new headlight housing. What you don't use, is the bulb for the parking light and instead connect the DRL plug into that connector (where the small bulb was seated). That's how it worked out for me.

    Understood.

I did try and put the red thing into the side marker connector also but didn't see how it would fit in. I will try again with a little more force this time :)

    Edit: issue resolved!

@JAHGB2 Every once in a while I have an experience that humbles me. :bananadance:

Turns out there was a part to the side marker connector that I forgot to remove from the original headlight. And that piece can fit the red thing.

Has anyone put LED H1s in these. I saw Morimoto has a pretty nice set of LEDs. Curious if these would create a decent beam pattern.

That’s the high beam. Flip on your highs and see if it comes on.
