so I took each side completely off (bracket, pillow, ubolts, nuts, washers) to give everything a proper cleaning to ensure there wouldn't be any sand / dust / mud between the ubolts and springs (and axle - mount). I torqued everything down to 70 ft lbs with some blue loktite. Do I now need to get an alignment? Everything in my mind is screaming yes.

I’m no expert but no. The rear is a solid axle meaning no rear alignment at least from my reading/understanding

But I have just added in some variation that might not have been controlled by the sway bar, shocks, and other misc items.

You can get one for your own peace of mind, but it's not necessary.

Like I said I’m no expert but what I’ve read is a solid rear you can’t perform an actual rear alignment. Sway bars and shocks don’t effect an alignment front or rear to my understanding

Only in the front. If you do anything to the rear, you dont need an alignment. Also, no rear sway bar unless you added one

It’s not, unless someone mentions otherwise

Thanks for confirming. I’m not a expert nor have personally experience/knowledge so I didn’t want to say with 100% certainty

Also being said, when you do get an alignment, since you only need a front end, the place should charge you accordingly. Aka dont pay for a 4 wheel alignment, when they can only do the front

I agree with what David is saying and will also confirm you absolutely do not need an alignment.

    Alignment is fine...

On the other hand, 70 ft-lbs on lubed threads when it specifies 52 ft-lbs on dry thread, after they've already been torqued to yield...

I thought I read there was still confusion of the torque on the ubolts. Some say 1 some say others. Ie. going off .2nd gen numbers and the others think the torque listed as spec is a misprint

You have compromised the integrity of the rear end and have now deemed the truck entirely unsafe to drive.

    I would junk the truck.

I think what you're referring to is 37 vs 73 ft-lbs (as the misprint)

70 is good, but id also recheck after a couple hundred miles.

52 seems low to me. So i don't know where it came from.

Without looking it up, id automatically think in the 80-85 ballpark. I just happened to remember the misprint because i was working on my friends truck recently
