Rays or Methods 305s?

I know this is like asking opinions on what kind of oil to use (BTW it’s Motul), but with Black Friday approaching, new wheels and tires are on the list for the Taco.

Already decided on Wildpeaks AT3’s, So wheels is where I’m on the fence. Looking for a dark bronze matte with black bead lock (simulated) setup. 16x8’s: 0 offset, no lift intended so 265x70 AT3’s.

If you care to opine, please go ahead!

Might I suggest the new Method MR315s? Very similar to 305s but they are “hub centric.” 305s are lug centric... everything else is very similar if not the same. 16x8 with 0 offset, 4.5 backspace and they come in bronze —plus the center caps are recessed and bolt on.



Here’s my truck with them and 265/75/R16 Wildpeaks. I ran these tires on my stock off road rims with the same suspension and I swear it feels like I lifted my truck just by changing the wheels...

 

I want to say the next drop for rays isn't until next month, so if you can wait

 

I have a set of 17" Method 305s sitting in my garage right now. Bought them over the summer during WheelWell's $200 off on a purchase of $400 or more. Trying to be financially prudent and just waiting for my 16" OEM tires need replacing before I put them on.

Hub centric according to America’s Tire.

 

The inside diameter of the MR315s 106.25mm

The stock diameter of the hub 106.10mm

The difference is .15mm or 0.005 inches (5.9 thousandths of an inch). And... that difference is going to be split in half around the wheel.

 

Methods have the cheap looking center cap

I see your point, but you still should use “extended thread” lugs as these are lug centric and not hub centric. The tolerance is enough to make the wheels feel unbalanced

First, that .005 of an inch split in two is sooo slight that the wheel doesn’t move up or down on the hub. Reloading tolerances on high quality precision ammunition isn’t that tight.

Second, all Method wheels, whether hub centric or not, require lug centric extended thread lug nuts. You can not reuse your factory lugs...

I’m using Gorilla extended thread lug nuts.

 

Method bronze is very light and bright. I would have gone with bronze on the 701's I got but it's just too light for my liking. The SCS bronze is very dark and more in line with what I'd like. So, I've got matt black 701's.
