I'll keep looking, because I am now learning how difficult and in demand the used market is for Tacomas. You can barely find a late model 300 (3rd gen) 6MT truck for under $30k and the most basic new 3rd gen manual, stickers at $35,820. It is pretty much a premium product and crests $40k when well equipped. Buying new isn't an option (well, sensible), for at least for 18 months or so.

I'll admit that I hated the manual transmission feel in newer FJs and 2nd gen Tacomas from 2011 to end of production. They're harder to shift, than the earlier ones. I noticed this with my newer 2014, compared to various 2005-09 trucks I had driven, particularly Access Cabs. They just felt more nimble and easier to change gears. Ditto for 2010+ FJs versus 2007-09 models.
