Why do they make TRD OR’s in RWD?

Nowhere on my truck does it saw 4x4, so how is that a poser? I have the off-road shocks and locker so it’s genuine

 

Because there’s people on here who spent 40k+ on a “off-road” prerunner and think that they got a steal. That’s why.

 

Also I only spent $32k so there’s that...while a 4x4 was 36-42k

 

But when the zombies come, you will wish you got the 4WD...

 

In a similar line of thinking, isn't a TRD Sport 4x4 kind of a pointless option package? I mean if you want sporty driving don't you really want rear drive, the tighter shocks and lighter weight? I say this as a TRD Sport 4x4 owner myself... you'd think:

TRD Sport would be 4x2 set up for on-road driving dynamics
TRD Off Road would be 4x4 with lockers and better off-road suspension

 

Because they are often found [stuck] off the road.

 

Some people prefer the "Off Road" badge but the 2WD cost, yes it seems like an oxy-moronic thing to do, but it happens. Also the same reason why you see all these OR trucks out there that have NEVER seen sand, salt, snow, or grass.

 

I’ll take my chances on that one while I vacation in Hawaii with the money I saved.

 

Not so much the weight but the increased travel in the front without having to worry about those pesky axle shafts.

Why do they make 2wd TRD ORs? Simple truth...people buy them

 

4x4 helps wet boat launches, snow, or other inclement situations even if you only pavement pound.

 

Marketing for sure. I always thought that was a little weird too.

Well, I went with a sport because everything unique to the sport, off-road, or even pro I had plans to immediately rip off. So nothing in most of those packages had any value to me. So of the three, I liked the body matched flares/parts on the sport so I got that and have proceeded to rip-off the suspension, wheels, tires, the badging, etc. I'll be getting it re-geared and an ARB installed at that time (so even the electric locker didn't appeal to me).
