After researching wax/sealants, picked Nufinish

Decided to research paint wax and sealants for my month old, 2019 black Tacoma Pro.

On the internet, I started with car wax/sealant reviews & opinions - caused me to recall that old joke. "Opinions are like ***holes, everyone has them and they all stink".

Then I looked for anything resembling test results.

Found a very interesting series of videos,
    Favorite one:
1st in this guy's paint sealant test:
    https://youtu.be/rxYwEbCvcxU

His last monthly update, on his test- year and 8 months later exposing the 34 wax/sealants to the elements on a car hood:
    https://youtu.be/HcQOCDDD_Ig

He justv started a new 42 count test.

I used Nufinish on my last Taco. Considering the new & expensive ceramic particle sealants ... for 7 bucks a bottle, went with Nufinish - it lasts way over a year (at least 20 months in the above test) and love how it deepens the black paint gloss.

One thing I learned, I used to follow bottle instructions... but was putting it on too thick according this video:
    https://youtu.be/rrx35jDWgYQ

Note his comment that Nufinish really adheres to the clearcoat/paint very well.

Otherwise, I'd go with one one the high test scoring ceramic based sealants.

    Cheers !

I recall reading up on it because I know my Dad used it way back and was curious what people thought about it. Ease of use and staining trim was some of it's biggest negatives, longevity was fine but certainly not a year. Yes everyone has opinions as well as what they want in a product like a wax/sealant/coating. Beadmaker is still very popular despite the fact that longevity is it's largest weakness. Despite this weakness it's ease of use, slickness and visual pop rival just about anything else out there.

At the end of the day use what works for you.

Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax - Best I have ever found and you can get it on the black trim without the white residue too.

I like turtle wax ice. It's not to expensive and doesnt turn the trim white.
I use the liquid in the spray bottle. It's really easy to put on. I've used nufinish before, have to keep off the trim, it last a while but takes a while to put on

I like it but it's really awful when it gets on the plastic and rubber bits - so I'm not ever gonna get it again.

I agree about Nufinish white staining black vinyl and rubber. I try to avoid hitting those areas. When I do, I've found using MOTHERS Back to Black takes out the white staining.

By the way, Back to Black product is a clear liquid. It cleaned up years of marks of resting my elbow on the center console arm rest (light grey) on my previous truck. It cleaned it up like new before trading in previous truck.

FYI. Ceramic is not a sealant. It is referred to as a coating.

Are all of these ok for the clear paint protection film I have on my hood and doors?

I dont have any protective film on my truck, but I remember when a friend had her car's hood covered with 3M film, the installer said:

"Do not use any kind of petroleum-based products on the film."

I know the Meguiar's Ultimate Wax will work fine on the protective films. I have been using it for several years now without issue.

Usually you can apply anything to protect film. It's the edges you need to watch out for. Either keep the product away drom edges or tape them while applying.
