6 or 7 ft rod in medium action with a 2500 reel will serve you really well. Walmart is ok for fishing every other week, some good brands are ugly stiks and pflueger reels for freshwater

Trout around here love inline spinners, kastmaster spoons, and a light jighead with some soft plastic in 2' (MD)
Bass you can't go wrong with senkos (plastic worms), crankbaits (get one that cover all water columns), spooks (heddon spook 3-4in), frog if you have lily pads there lol.
Catfish I used to catch channel cats with nightcrawlers but I think they'll eat a paddletail

I use live bait. Opelu are about the size of brook trout.

Ugly Sticks are inexpensive and durable. For budget reels, I've been pretty happy with Pflueger.

Jig and crawfish trailer, weightless stick worm(Shim-e-sticks, Walmart), spinnerbaits and crankbaits for bass.

Red/white Daredevil, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and Swimbaits for pike.

There's about a million things that will work. These are my favorites.

    I know nothing about Trout.

Sonny's or Junnie's for catfish have worked well for me.

For plastics, I like stick-worms and a jig/plastic crawfish. Strike King is my go-to brand for plastics.

I usually buy the Strike King spinnerbaits from Wallyworld, white or chartreuse/white.

    Some good advice here already.

Do you have a build thread on this? Great idea, I never use the rear seats anyways

I went with the Portarod. Aluminum and no drilling to keep it in place. Just a ratchet system.IMG_0481 (002).jpg IMG_0486.jpg

Man some you guys are super organized.. My system consists of jamming everything I can into a cheap bagpack, and sitting my 1piece 7' rods in the passenger seat floor. When I have a buddy with me, our rods go out the back window.

A 2 piece 7' rod does fit in the cubby under the back seat. But I fear I bent a guide on my 2 piece rod doing that.

Do they make rod tubes for spinning kits? I'd throw it in that so you cant break one off
